DD is having her very first slumber party for her 10th bday. There will be 5-6 girls (including DD). I was thinking of getting a new Wii game for them to play that night. Right now, we have Wii Play, Sports, a Disney trivia game, Kung Fu Panda, Mario Kart, & Super Mario Galaxy. I want to get something a little more girly. There seem to be a lot of karaoke and dance games, but I don't know what to pick. Any suggestions?

Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm not sure about girly because I have a boy, but my sisters in law (12 & 15) love to play carnival games when they come to visit. They each made their own character, just like with Wii sport, but a little more realistic. As you play, you earn tickets that you can use to buy new outfit pieces (hats, masks, shoes and so on). There are also a bunch of pieces that you can unlock along the way. We originally got it because I wanted it, but I'm not sure who likes it more, me or them.

We have Rabids and Mario Party that the girls really enjoy. My DD12 also really likes Wii Ski but you need a balance board for that one. Oh she also really likes the Monsters vs Aliens game, but I think that's only a single player game.

I second Carnival Games. dd10 loves that and also the Littlest Pet Shop game those are about the only 2 she plays (oh she likes outdoor adventure too).

Carnival Games is good, so is Rayman Raving Rabbids. The second one causes lots of giggles, it's very silly and interactive.

My DD loves Cooking Mama and carvival games. Cooking Mama is really cute!

Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone.

Now I'm off to read up on these games and see which one DD would like best.

I picked up a Hannah Montana Wii game at Target today on clearance for $12. It is a dance type game (i think...we haven't opened it up yet, but the price was right!)

I've played All Star Cheer Squad, and Wii Cheer. As you can guess they are both cheerleading games. I believe Wii Cheer is also multi-player, up to 4 people. *BUT* I have had a difficult time beating the easiest song on the easiest level. I made my husband try who is a video gamer of all types and he couldn't even do it. All star cheer squad is a lot easier and is also fun. :)

When it comes to multi-player my girls LOVE rockband! They also have Disney Sing-it but it isn't as much fun for them.

What about the new disney dance game - i heard it comes with 2 dance pads????

we cheer!!!!! My girls love this game and up to 4 people can play it at one time.

We have the Carnival game and it is a lot of fun. I played Wii Fit at a friends house and their 11 y/o dd was having a blast - hula hoops was a lot of fun. My dd also bought one called Monkey Ball that she and my ds like to play.

Wii Fit is fun and the girls can take turns. I think there is a Disney princess game for the Wii. We had it for another console and it is very simple but my daughter (7) loved it. My daughter also played the Build A Bear game and thought it was fun.

Having just hosted a sleepover for 10 and 11 year olds last month, I will suggest having all batteries new/recharged.

If you can borrow extra controllers/numchucks, it lets more kids play at once. Two sets are okay, though. You have to remind them to take turns.

Let them set up their own Mii's. That'll take up at least 45 minutes of time, hahaha.

I second the Cooking Mama and Mario Party game suggestions. I even like those games.

I've rented/borrowed games and equipment (like the Wii board) to try them out before we buy. It's a good way to test things out.

Also, look up "cheats" for the games you already have; unlocking secret options makes the games new again.

I wouldn't recommend Guitar Hero - most of the lyrics and graphics are not for younger kids. You wouldn't want to let someone else's kid play that game.

Rock Band is a great alternative and a lot of fun for a group. If you have a guitar, it works with this game too. If you don't, it's okay - they are other instruments being simulated with the numchucks and controllers.

If you have Wii Fit, that's always a hit, but it's sometimes hard to find in the stores and it's a bit pricey.

The dance games, like Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) are good, but you have to buy the dance board, so it's a bigger investment than just a game.

Good luck with the sleepover - been there, done that, survived the trip. (Just last month) Word of warning: if you DON'T want them doing beauty makeovers, make it clear to each and every invitee. I had told my daughters "no" before invitations went out but technically, I didn't say it to the guests. One of the kids brought nail polish so they could do manicures and pedicures after I went to bed. :scared: I overheard the plotting and resolved it before they ruined my hardwood floors.

I was fuming and my kids got some lecture the next day after everyone left. I don't think that girl's ever being invited back because I just felt that was disrespectful to me, not to mention sneaky. That was the third strike - last year, she started a popcorn-throwing fight. This year, she also apparently threw scrambled eggs at someone, which we found on the windowsill while cleaning up after the guests left.

My daughters are 8 and 11, and they LOVE Boogie Superstar. I got it on clearance for 7 bucks! You can sing, dance, and all to today's songs. They really like it.
