Two girls at work recently gotten into a disagreement over this(nursing station on night shift) I guess I never really thougth about it before they were disagreeing.
Ok one girl is saying that if you yawn, you cover your mouth and then say excuse me
the other girl says that you should cover your mouth while yawning and not say anything
I really never have thought of it before and this squabble has them taking polls as to what is the proper etiquette, LOL
As for me, I always cover mouth while yawning though do not say excuse me. I work the night shift and probably yawn a lot.
So which is the proper etiquette?

I would think you cover the mouth for the sake of anyone looking, but saying "excuse me" is only necessary if the yawn was loud enough people heard it.

I may excuse myself so they don't think I am yawining because their story is boring, but maybe at the movies I wouldn't)
