I plan on walking the Portland marathon in October. I want to stay a week and rent a place with kitchen facilities. My budget is limited. I found three places so far...
1. About 5 miles NE of downtown, where the Marathon starts and finishes, and around the corner from a Safeway and assorted Asian grocery stores (and really good restaurants, too). The #12 bus stops a 1/2 block away, runs every 15" down Sandy Blvd to downtown. This is a studio for under $500 for the week - located at 3415 NE 72nd Ave.
2. Basement apartment, located at 2337 NE 15th ave, Portland OR 97212. There is a bus stop 25 yards down the street. You can reach downtown in about 8 minutes on the bus. The area is filled with great restaurants and shops, all within 2-10 min walking distance. The weekly rent is $700.
3. Condo on the river at 730 NW Natio Parkway. This place looks wonderful - everything new but is much larger than one person would need. However, price for the week is $1150.
Looking for any advice from people who know the area. I do not plan on renting a car.
Thanks!
