OT: Where do you buy girls' clothes?

My dd is 10 and we shop at Limited Too. I know there are people that think their clothes are too old, but I have no problem with their clothes. They carry things for older teens, so yes there are some styles that I would not buy.
Dd is not allowed to wear the shorts because they are too short but other than that we make out very well.
I also get her some stuff at Childrens Place, but nothing that says "place" on it because its to babyish (her words). Their slim jeans fither better than anyone elses.
The other stores we shop at are Old Navy, Kohls and sometimes Target.

Agreed!! We get a bundle of Children's Place slim fit jeans for dd before every school year. Usually can get them for $14/pr. or less and with an extra %off code this year!:yay:

This year I went back to Kohls and they had a nice selection. For a couple of years the clothes were looking way to old. I also like Macy's and JCpenny.
Target also for a few items.

The reason I don't like Limited Too or Justice is because there to expensive and made overseas like all the other clothes. So I don't see the big deal about them.

I agree with the names written across the backside, I just don't like the look of that.

Like many other PP's have said, I get most of DD9's clothes at Land's End, LL Bean, Hanna Andersson, and Target. She has a few Justice and Limited Too shirts, but she is the first to say she doesn't like short shorts, which seem to be the style this year.

Shopping for little girls clothing is hard. I cant believe some of the clothes I see for little girls. I have a 4 year old DD and I buy most of her clothes from JC Penney, Kohls, and The Childrens Place.

My DD (almost 5) is at the transition point from toddler clothes into the 4-6X sizes so I've just started shopping in the girls rather than toddler departments. She's wearing a uniform at school, but we needed clothes for outside of school for the fall/winter. We went shopping last weekend and found most of her clothes at Target and Children's Place. I've always been a big Kohl's shopper, but was disappointed in their selection this fall. We got a couple things there, but not the majority of her clothes like I used to. We also bought a couple things at Penney's.

Gymboree. The whole 'babyish' thing is silly as they have solid colored clothes and jeans with rock star guitars on them a la Hannah Montana, so when I hear my nieces use this excuse, it's just because they don't want to go into the store because they also sell infant and toddler clothes. Gymboree sells adult clothes, for goodness sakes! Hannah Anderson and LL Bean clothes are close to Gymboree's styles, so this might not work for your daughter, but since I'm assuming she doesn't buy and pay for her own clothes, it will have to do, won't it? :thumbsup2

Around here you wear what we deem to be appropriate, and that is 99.9% Gymboree, with a little bit of Roots, Lands' End, Gap or Disney thrown in. Most of the clothes will continue to be inappropriate because parents continue to buy them. :thumbsup2

Good luck, Tiger

My girls are 10 & 3 and their clothes come from lots of different places. Thank goodness my school aged daughter wears a uniform. Old Navy, Target, WalMart, Kolh's, and recently I've placed several orders from Lands End. I try to get my girls things when on sale or when I have coupons. I'll have to check into Hannah Anderson and see what their clothes are like.

Like many of the moms have already said I like for my girls to look their ages. It's nothing wrong with being trendy but I draw the line when you look to "grown". I tell my oldest that there will be plenty of time to look "grown" but her adolesent years will go by like a flash.:sad2:

T.

I would recommend Hanna Andersson as well as Lands' End and LL Bean. I like Children's Place too- their items are trendy without being trashy.
Gap is always my first stop- but we love Gymboree for now. When my girls get bigger I think Lands' End will be a staple store for us.
I have also been known to check out thrift stores- especially for playclothes. I like Ebay as well to pick up some of the more expensive brands like Oilily and Deux par Deux.
Try your local department stores too. Around here we use Kohls, J.C. Penny, and Macy's. They all have their own lines of kids clothing and can be very affordable.
Good luck!

When my dd12 was little, she lived in Lands End. However, I was looking at the catalogue, and there is not one item she'd be caught dead in, and to be honest, a girl entering JH in some of those clothes would stick out like a sore thumb! :confused3 I was amazed that they carried little girly clothes in such large sizes.

My girls are 9 and 10 (although they are small - 0nly wear sizes 7/8 and 8/10). I still buy a lot of stuff at gymboree. I also order from polo.com and cwd kids. I like Lily clothes too, and GAP. Some things from old navy are fine, especially play clothes.

Thank goodness my girls wear uniforms - I can't imagine having to shop for all new outfits for school when I see what's out there!

My dd is 9. She also wears uniforms to school (thank God).
I usually buy her clothes from
Children's Place,
Target
Old Navy (clearance, esp online),
Gap (definitely only clearance, esp online),
JC Penney (when in the area)
Macy's (clearance only), and
Limited Too(only just recently started buying there). They had great clearance racks. I bought quite a few tops, a zip up hoodie, and a sweater dress all for $4.99 each!

I don't go for the short shorts nor words written across the butt either. Who thought of that?

She's tall but slim. The greatest invention ever was adjustable waists and slim fits! I love how Children's Place, Gap, and Old Navy jeans fit her.Any name brands that she owns usually comes form Macy's clearance racks. They really have some great sales plus additional % off. I want to try Kohl's one day.

I have 9 & 2 year old girls. The oldest is in uniforms for school but is still picky with her regular clothes. We get most of her stuff from Crew Cuts (J.Crew), mini Boden, and the Gap. I love mini Boden! High quality clothing from the U.K. Nice colors, and stylish without being "too mature." It can be pricey but they have some great sales occasionally.

I totally agree! most of targets clothes are ok. I won't buy anything w/ wording on dd's behind, and no short-shorts. And I know this is probably silly, but no Bobby Jack clothes. Am I the only one who thinks a little girl wearing the initials BJ on her clothes is shocking and inappropriate?? Who made up that name to have the initials BJ??????? I just can't bring myself to support it.

That is exactly how I feel about stuff with Cherry written on them. It's disturbing to me to see cherry scrawled across a first grader's chest (or worse yet, her butt)

Like Gymboree, some things can be pricey but i love Land's End. Some LandsEnd items can be found at SEARS now but limited.

I like LandsEnd clothes because they are made well, usually soft and last through MANY washes. Also they tend to have non-trendy clothes that still look stylish and put-together.

I can't wait til this low-rise pants/shorts fad is over. I have a hard time finding pants & jeans for myself that aren't revealing my underwear elastic!!

If you sign in for an account at Land'sEnd, you'll get email ads. They OFTEN run free shipping specials. I usually wait for a free shipping offer before i place an order.

If you have a Discover Card & online access to your Discover account, log on and go to SHOPDiscover. IF you link to LandsEnd through SHOPDiscover, you'll earn 10% cashback on your order credited to your DiscoverRewards when you charge order to your Discover card.

My DD10 is so very hard to dress. She wants sports clothes but then she also wants girly clothes. Has anyone found that the clothes out there - Limited/Justice/Target/Macys/Dillards - even Nordstroms - are getting thinner and thinner and must worse quality? I used to not have to pay a whole whole lot for quality clothes that would last but now I do and everything is see through thin.

Boden looks good! I've gotten catalogs but haven't tried anything yet.

Well said! :thumbsup2

We like the Children's Place. My dd is a very tall seven year old and she varies in sizes between 11/12 and 13/14....I just wish they had larger sizes. I have no clue where we are going to shop next. :scared1:

I have the same problem with my 7 yr old.. she has a very very long torso.. Pants are a nightmare :scared1: Nothing fits her right. I've seen some people on here list their 12 yr old as the same height as my 7 yr old. I got my girls jeans from crazy8 online they are having a sale for 9.99$ plus I had a 20% off coupon so I got them for 8. a piece.:thumbsup2 Right now they also have some cute long sleeve t's for 5.00

For the life of me, could not figure out what might be offensive about "BJ". Had to google it and found acronym website--okay yes BJ , bad idea for little girls clothing!!

I'm disgusted when i see people with "juicy" printed across their rear--but yes agree my daughter will not be wearing ANY wording across her butt.

I buy most of my daughter's clothes from GAP.
Old Navy is very hit or miss-and mostly a miss-though I did buy her 2 shirts and a pair of pants there this year-I don't think I had gotten her anything there in at least a year prior to that.
TCP same deal, sometimes the clothes are so garish and I don't shop there for an entire season and sometimes I find a bunch of cute stuff.
Every so often I find some cute things at Target, too.

My DD9 is size 10. Last year I bought a lot at Children's Place, but I think she may be outgrowing that store. Or I should say I am outgrowing that store, since I can't find too many things for her there anymore. Their jeans are still the best fit for her.

This year our back to school shopping was done at Limited Too, Justice and Gap. She also got a ton of clothes from her 13 yo cousin that was all Abercrombie, American Eagle and Polo, so we got a closet full of those as well. Limited Too Jeans are ok, I actually like the slim leg style better than the bootcut or the flare leg for DD. We picked up a lot of babydoll style tops for some reason. Abercrombie jeans are painfully low, but the ones DD got she will only wear them after school:lmao:
