Next month my daughter turns 1 and I am trying to figure out what to do? Obviously the family will be over and 1 playmate (we don't live in a community with too many children :sad1: ). Do we just do :cake: and presents? Do I put in a movie? I'm thinking about puting together a DVD of baby's 1st year. What did you guys do, or are going to do? Thanks.

just subscribing.

we celebrated dd#1 first birthday with LOTS of family and friends and it was way overwhelming for me. dd#2 gets something smaller when she turns 1 on the 21st of jan. still same amount of family (IE. LOTS!) but only 1 friends. and i only want them to play.

looking for ideas though! :confused3

For our son's first birthday we had family and his playdate friends come. I catered in Italian food and we did cake and icecream. My daughter turns one this month and we are doing the same minus the playdate friends. As for food we are having roast beef! The birthday kid just loves the special attention at that age. They are still so little to really particiapate in "birthday party type games."

We just did a little party with my parents and a few of our family friends. I made appetizers and we had cake and ice cream. Nothing huge. We opened presents then had cake. MY DD ran around and finally crashed at 6 at night and was out for most of the evening.

Hope that helps!

we did cake and ice cream. it was plenty for ds to "take in". Our friends did a HUGE party/cook-out type thing and it was way overwhelming for their ds.

For the most part the party is for the adults not the birthday kid, because lets face it at 1 year they have no clue what is going on.

That said, we did a big family birthday for my oldest 1st birthday. We had cake and maybe ice cream. The adults talked. The kids played. DD opened presents. The end.

For DD first Bday party we had lots of family and friends over a week before her birthday. We had it in our garage and decorated really cute. It was a JoJo theme party so we had a JoJo cake. It was 3 tiers. The bottom was frosted like JoJo's pants the middle frosted like her shirt and the top tier was frosted like her hat. That was DD's personal cake to dig into. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and had several sides. I feel the first bday is a big deal. This is our first child and we all surrvied the first year. so that is a good reason to celebrate. :teeth: Then we took her to WDW for her birthday. On her actual birthday we had breakfast at CRT. princess:
