I have just booked our flights for PCC 2.0 ($7.5k for family of 3 and 35hrs of travelling EACH WAY:scared1:)

The layover flying TO Orlando is about 3 hrs - so just enough time to get through immigration & get that extra security screening TSA seems to give foreigners.

On the way back the domestic AA flight arrives in LAX at 15:30 and leaves at 23:50. We will be travelling with a 6 year old who is a really good kid, but I am a bit worried about what to do on this long layover.

My memories of LAX were that it was a bit of a hole - has it improved? In Singapore if you have a layover of more than 6 hours there is a free bus tour you can do of the island city. I suppose there is nothing like that for LAX?

I know there is an In-N-Out burger just outside of one of the Airport parking lots. I believe you can take a shuttle to the parking lot for free. You can go there, get some great food (as great as fast food can be...In-N-Out is the greatest) and watch a variety of planes land.

well you definitely beat me with the 35 hours...
let me see....how long is my time each way....
an hour drive to the airport, 3 hours until the flight, 13 hour flight to NYC, 4 hour layover in NYC, 2.5 hours down to Orlando, then whatever it takes to rent the car and get to WDW (for the pre-cruise visit)..

so how much was that? a little over 24 hours from my door to the disney resort....so you have me beat by 11 hours..... and i thought we had it bad

as for LAX - i don't think 6 hours is enough to do anything other than what the poster above suggested...
last time we were in LA, we seemed to get stuck in traffic for at least 6 hours wherever we went....ok...so i exagerate....but while 6-7 hours is a long time to hang around an airport, i think i would be really nervous about not getting back to the airport in time because of the traffic...

Since I live here and used to fly in and out of LAX weekly (in days gone by), this is up my alley.

I would hoof it over to that odd little "retro space age' building in the middle of the airport. It is a restaurant that Disney helped them design and theme called "Encounter". The food is slightly pricey, but really tasty and it's a nice view. You won't have to risk going off site and it's a little bit out of the ordinary!:thumbsup2

I had a similar layover at LAX a few years back on my way home from Alaska. I have family in So Cal, so they picked us up and drove to the beach to walk around a little while before driving us back to the LAX. Oh ... and we stopped at In-N-Out on the way for dinner too.

If you feel adventurous, you could rent a car and drive around someplace.

Another option, if you want to stay at LAX is to buy day passes for one of the VIP clubs. Some of them even have kid's play rooms.
