Hi!
My children have picked names of children to buy Christmas presents for, from a community giving tree. They both picked 9 year old children; one is a boy and the other a girl. My little ones are 5 and 3 and I am not quite sure what might be appropriate gifts. I was thinking of warm winter clothing and can guesstimate the size, but what about a toy or "fun" gift? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks so much!

Without knowing what the child likes it will be hard My DS10 and DS8 both asked for a scooter and nerf football.Other than that they asked for video games,Star Wars stuff, etc

I have a nine year old ds. He would love to get any Nerf anything, any Magnetix anything (I bet a girl would love those too), anything "spy", most any age appropriate board game, books (some of my sons favorites are the Narnia books, the Harry Potter books, Magic Tree House, Animorphs, Hardy Boys and almost anything to do with pirates). Most boys that age also like Pokemon cards, basketball cards, baseball cards, model car/boat/plane sets, card game sets, magic trick sets, and any kind of plastic animal (the more "ick"the better **snakes, bugs, lizards good...fluffy teddy bears, baby kittens, cutesy farm animals bad**). A soccer ball or football.

For my nine year old neice we looked at art/craft sets, anything Bonnie Bell (she loves clear flavored lip slicks and lip glosses), fluffy covered notebooks/diary, fun pens and pencils, puzzles, books (Nancy Drew, Shel Silverstein), board games, card games, paint your own animal sets, those fuzzy posters and magic trick sets. :wizard:

What a great thing you all are doing! Since each of my boys was wee little we have been pulling one for each of them yearly and having them help us do the shopping. I love the lesson it teaches them and thinking of another little one a bit happier come Christmas! :teeth:

Have fun picking! :)

Without a gift suggestion, I would try to stay somewhat general. Most 9 year olds love building sets that are somewhat more complex. Think legos or knex or the magnetex sets. Girls that age are very much into craft sets, jewery. Board games are good for both. Art supplies are good too. If clothes are in the plan, I would look for things that kids like. I know they need clothes but most 9 year old boys do not really WANT clothes for Christmas. Boys like hooded sweat shirts or anything with sports teams. Girls tend to like what ever is "in" at the given moment. Know whatever you do will be appreciated as the "giving" this year is at a all time low due to so many helping with storm issues this summer. Bless you.

When my daughter was 9 all she wanted was BRATZ dolls and stuff. I think I have almost everyone made!! Now she is 12 and is too old for them! Hoping to sell them at a garage sale next year.
My son is almost 8 and all he wants is dvd's and video games, again he has tons, but always wants more.

There are two similar threads on this board that you might want to look at for ideas. One is called "What to get for a 9 year old Girl" and the other is a thread I started called "What to get a 9 year old boy". Both have a lot of good ideas. ::MinnieMo

Not sure for girls, but I have a ds9. I would guess on size about an 8 or 10??? My ds is into PS2 games, throwing the football, the Scene It board games, the wheel things (you pull the cord and the wheel goes, sorry can't think of the name, they are about $5), Pokemon, Spongebob.
