I had DD 13 1/2 months at the mall today and decided to get her some shoes. When they measured her it said a size 5!!!! Is that normal? I'm a first time Mom and I'm not sure about sizing but I guess I didn't expect her to be in a 5 already. Her feet do not look big at all but I saw the sizing chart and that's what she is!

Betsy - that's about right - My son is 20 months and wears a 7 XW.

My lil girl is 16 mos weighs 20 pounds, in 18 mos old clothes and she wears a size 4 shoe.

Size 5, she can wear CROCS right? ;)

I just checked my "Shoebuy.com" order history- all sizes are the Stride Rite Natural Motion System:

At 8 months, DD (25th percentile height, 10th percentile weight) wore a 3
At 14 months, DD wore a 5
At 17 months, DD wore a 5.5
At 19 months, DD wore 6
At 21 months, DD wore a 6.5
At 24 months, DD wore a 7-7.5
She is now amost 26 months (60th percentile height, 30th percentile weight) I just got her summer sandals in a size 8- they're a little big, but the 7.5's would have been too small by the end of May.

So - your DD seems right on track w/ where my DD was.

Crocs are exactly what I was looking for today when I had her foot measured! I've been so excited for when DD could wear them and I guess I didn't think it would happen so fast!

Thank you all so much for the great responses! It makes me feel much better to know that she isn't a "big foot"! I guess what throws me is that she has a friend that's 3 weeks older than her and is wearing such small sizes for shoes and clothes that I always feel like DD is huge! After reading your responses, it looks like she's right on track! Thanks so much!

Your DD doesn't have big feet at all. You want to see big feet, come look at my kids. My DS (now 9 years old and wearing a men's size 8 shoe) wore a size 6 shoe for his first pair of shoes at age 9 months! DD (now 5 years old and wearing a 13) was the same way. All I can say is at least they get it honestly (DH wears a 13 wide men's and I wear a 11-12 women's!). Poor kids of mine! :lmao:

Sounds pretty normal to me. My DD is the exception. She is in 10th percentile for weight and 15th for height. She is 24 months and still wears 18 month clothes. She just now went to size 5 1/2 shoe. She is 23 pounds and 32 inches.

Keep in mind they may have measured her a little bigger but Stride Rite a few years ago wouldn't do that for me so I went to Penny's & bought my ds bigger shoes.

My oldest got her first pair of shoes between 9-10 months. She wore size 4 in sneakers & sandals (Stride Rite). She just turned 6 & is a size 11 or 12 depending on brand.

My ds I want to say was a size 3 at 12 months or he may have been a size 3 1/2. He is now 3½ & I think he is in a size 6 or 7 (isn't that bad I don't know the size).

My 3rd & final child is 14 months & she got her first pair of shoes when she was 13 months & finally decided to walk (btw my other 2 also got their shoes when they walked). Anyways her sneakers from Stride Rite are a size 4 with some room, not much but enough. I also got her a pair of sandals that were a size 4 but they just fit her. Both were Stride Rite. So I returned them because I was afraid by the time summer came they'd be tight. So she wears my oldest dd's sandals when I am too lazy to put on her sneakers.

Sounds normal - my son was in a size 5 at 18 months and a size 7 currently (26 months), but he has wee little feet. All his friends are in bigger sizes.

My kids have small feet in comparison to their friends. At 1 year they each wore 4 wide and now at 3 DS wears an 8 and at 5.5 DD wears an 11. DH and I are very average sizes- I wear an 8, he wears a 10, so they will probably eventually catch up to their peers.

I cannot remember what they wore as babies but DD6 wears a 1.5 and DD3 wears a 9/10 depending on the shoe. Their father wears a size 14 and is 6ft. 5. Both of them are very tall too. I am a shorty(5'4") and dd6's head is already even with my shoudlers.

Sounds right to me from what I remember. It was a bit ago, but my DD was probably about that and my DS more like a 6. They do slow down a bit as they get older so don't freak out to much;) . I figure my kids went through a shoe size every 6 months or so until about 4 or 5, then it slowed to a shoe size a year.

My son wore a 6.5 for his first pair of shoes at 12 months. Now that he's 7, he wear a 4.

It varies alot, a little girl his age in our church got shoes at 14 months and she wore a 1. Now that's tiny. My DS could wear a 1 when he was born.

Just like my daughter. Even the 4s give some room.

We have a pair of Disney Crocs waiting for her to grow into?;)

I could have written this, your DD is the same size as my little one, she turned 2 on 4/27. She's such a peanut, but talks really well, so it surprises people who think she's much younger.

Guess I need to look for Crocs for her, I didn't think they came that small. :)

For all of us Croc lovers, they start at size 4/5 for the little ones! :thumbsup2
They didn't have any that small yesterday for DD at Stride Right so we are going to find her a pair today ;)
