I'm about to enter the diaper bag stage again and not looking forward to it! I am a simple girl and actually don't even like purses much. I'm looking to carry the bare minimum a couple diapers, change of clothes, wipes, etc. plus a wallet, cell phone, and keys. I plan on nursing but as the baby gets older I suppose it will need room for snacks and a sippy too. I'm thinking of loading up a backpack just to leave in the car but would like something much smaller for trips to the mall or grocery store. Anyone have suggestions? A cross body would be a bonus.

well its not budget, but i love petunia picklebottom. you can do it as a shoulder back or a backpack and they look good!
we've also had pottery barn bags - i got one on sale, name embroidered. that one i have used for about 3 years for my four year old, and we just retired it. it still looks great. backpack option on that one too.

:thumbsup2 Best bag ever! I am not much of a multiple bag person and like a nice bag that will last. After two boys with boring diaper bags I wanted something girly. This bag is perfect, it has a place for everything. My favorite is that you can set it on those diaper changing tables and unzip it and lay out your own pad while everything you need is right there. All with one hand.I only like the kind that are glazed as those wipe up easily. It is $$$ but I only got the one bag and use it all the time. Holds up well.

I bought a JJCole bag this time, and I'm already not liking it and I haven't used the darn thing yet. I had a messenger bag from Babies R Us that I absolutely loved for 2 years, and then finally I couldn't fix it another time. I'm thinking of buying a Timbuk2 messenger bag instead, or maybe one of those Diaper Dude Diva bags.

I'm also a less = more type of gal.

Well these aren't exactly budget friendly but I can't live without my Ju-Ju-Bes! They have THE BEST features! I love them! The owners and the company itself are awesome, too, with great customer service, they stand behind their product, which to me, means a lot.

Here you can see the bags/accessories here... Ju-Ju-Be Bags

Target now has a Petunia Picklebottom line. Really cute bags under $50. I am in the market for a new one too and will be heading out soon to get mine!!
