OT-What is the tax on McDonald's food? I'm taking 30 kids there today!

Hello All ~ I am taking 30 children to McDonald's after school
[I am the program director of an after school rec program]

I'm trying to figure out the budget.....is the tax on McDonald's food just gst or gst & pst? Thanks! Sandra

Call the store beforehand and ask..they may like a head's up if that many are coming in at once.

The taxes are GST and PST.

Ontario PST:

Prepared foods sold by eating establishments are taxable at the rate of 8% when the total charge in any one transaction is more than $4.00. RST (Retail Sales Tax) is calculated on the total sale excluding GST. Since the federal government allows vendors the option of using GST-included pricing when billing customers, RST does not apply unless the GST-included price for prepared foods is more than $4.28 ($4.00 + 7% GST).
