I'll admit it. I love Phineas and Ferb. It's one of those shows that I might watch in the absence of my child. The songs are hilarious. Candace cracks me up. You get the picture.

Yet despite all of this fondness, I am completely confused by something. Is Ferb adopted? Why is he British? I know the dad is, but presumably if two children are raised together, their accents would be the same. Plus, in the "Little Brothers" video, the sequencing goes Candance, Ferb as a baby and then a child Ferb, waving a British flag.

Forgive me for being such a dork. And I'm sorry this has nothing to do with WDW planning. It's just driving me nuts to not know! LOL

Anyone....????

Ferb is Phineas's step brother. They are a blended family. That is why they dont have the same last name either. Phineas Flynn Ferb Fletcher if I remember right.

They are a blended family. Dad's family is british and Freb is step brother to the other 2.

I love Phineas and Ferb also. They are step brothers. I am listening to the CD that I got today and loving it. Yes, the kids will like it too, but I really bought it for me and already put it on the ipod.;)

LOL I adore you, Pooh! I asked for the CD for my birthday. I'm sure the kids will like it too, but it's for me. :-)

What's funny is when I googled my question after posting it there there are like a million results. Guess I wasn't the only one wondering.

It took me awhile to figure it out too. I think the clip the OP is referring to showed Phineas as a baby if I recall.

I think that "Little Brothers" song is hilarious ... so melodious and sweet, then you listen to the matter-of-fact lyrics -- of course they're little brothers: "you're younger, we're related, and you're boys!":rotfl: Just another reason our whole family loves the show -- something on everyone's level.

I LOVE Phineas and Ferb! I like that Disney managed to work a blended family into the programming with absolutely NO drama.

There is no:

Custody order where Phineas goes to his Dad's house every other weekend and for two weeks a summer.

Step parent conflict where Ferb yells, "You're not my mother!!!" while having a tantrum about being sent to "reform camp".

Mourning over the loss of a deceased parent that made it "okay" for mom/dad to remarry. (think Brady Bunch)

I really like the way they DON'T make a big deal about the blended family. It does however leave us grownups googling them to find out the deal!

Wow, I thought I was the only one who loved the show! By the way, when I was at Kohls the other night in the boy section 8-20 they have Perry the Platypus long sleeve t-shirts! "Undercover Platypus" My son loved them! I want to get the CD!

I love Phineas and Ferb!! (I think almost more than DD)

:lmao::lmao:

On another board that I frequent, my tag reads "Fossils! Dun-dun-duh!"

It took me a while to figure out why they had different accents, too. But I do like how the family just is. The British grandparents are called Grandma and Grandpa by all the kids and it's Mom and Dad all the time. It's nice.

Okay, so I know the Fletcher-Flynn household family tree but this thread got me thinking about the "blended" family.

How can Ferb be the stepbrother when his parents fell in love at the Love Handel concert? Ferb isn't older than Candace and even if the dad had an affair, they would have been half siblings, not step... The dad "made his move" ("C'mon! Kiss her!") and they'd been together ever since?? Did they break up during Linda's Lindana phase??

Thoughts?? This is going to drive me nuts!!

Good point. Maybe they fell in love at Love Handal, then she became Lyndana and they broke up because they werent spending time together. Then she fell in love w/ a groupie who then tragically died of cancer or something while she stayed by his side. She then is done w/ Lyndana and moves back home where she reunites w/ Ferbs dad who had married and the wife died tragically also. They are there to comfort each other when they needed it the most and fall in love all over again and decide to get married.

I never thought about that. the thing on the show that drives me crazy is...Is it Slushy Dog or Slushy Burger dang it.

Wait that didnt make sense because Phineas and Candace didnt know about Lyndana....hum.....

Okay so they meet when she is in College and they fell in love at the concert. She moves away and becomes L. While touring as L she meets "biodad". Once her "L"phase is over she and biodad get married and have Candace. then along comes Phineas. Biodad gets sick or dies tragically.

Ferb's dad moves back to England and marries and has Ferb. The mom again dies. Saddened to be around all of that he moves back to the states where he went to college. By this time Linda is back in town. They happen to meet up at an Antiques show. They get to talking and realize they never stopped loving the other, and were able to reconnect. They then get married and we have Phineas and Ferb.

suspension of disbelief people!! Just accept the nonlinear storyline is my phiolsophy!! mabye she was Lindanna before the love handle concert, and the kids were with a sitter while newly single mom went out??

I accept it, but it was kind of fun to imagine something. I love Phineas and Ferb. Its the reason we got Disney On Demand...so we can watch it whenever we want. heck its the only tvshow on that my entire family can agree on. I am the dork who had Backyard Beach as my ringback tone for a while (its Pirates of the Caribean now).

I am guilty too. The CD is on my IPOD!!

We love Phineas and Ferb. The CD is on my Ipod (Though so are Backyardigan songs and MY Disney Songs). The CD is for everyone but my dh and I love it.

My dh and I have also had the what's up with the family question. In the time travel episode Linda says to the dad that Candace has his imagination. I was taken aback by that since he's suppose to be her step-dad. We've decided that they are steps when it's convenient to the story line.

We love this too- my 2 year old calls it PhinFerb, and wants to watch before dinner every evening! My only complaint is that they don't change the on-demand episodes fast enough!

Hey Guys! I know the exact answer to your question. Ferb is adopted and in the video they show Candace, PHINEAS, then Ferb. If you watch the episodes closely then you will find out that there are some other signs that point to Feb being adopted. I figured this out way before that episode came out and the song just clarified it for me.;)
