OT: What do you keep on your kitchen counters?

Queen of Counter Clutter here! Our kitchen space is small and galley style so not a lot of space to put things away. However there is space on top of cabinets that we use for some of the appliances like the Foreman grill, electric fry pan etc. Hmmmm, I need to get up there and purge that space!

One thing I found that helped us and could help with the question of where to put your purse....the dollar store has over the door hooks (for a dollar! ;)). They come with one hook or two. I got a bunch and stuck them on the back of our dining room closet, bathroom and tv room. We wear tons of hoodies and this is the perfect solution plus a place to put bags etc. We dont have a coat closet. Plus they are mobile, obviously, so you can change them around according to your needs.

I keep way too much stuff on my counters. Keurig and all it's accessories, (moving to the right), toaster, mixer, canisters, cookies utensils, salt and pepper shakers, paper towel roll (moving to the right again) fruit bowl, homework and binders, cell phones, pile of mail, pile of bills. That's about it. I have ALOT of counter space, but it's still very filled up.

Love this thread - so inspirational!

Forgive me if this is hijacking, but what do you have on the top of your bedroom *Dresser*? That is another clutter collector. Just when I clean it off, it gets covered again!

(Should I start another thread about this?)

I don't have a top to my dresser, well I probably do but I haven't seen it in years.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OMG, I opened this thinking how much I hate clutter and how tidy my counters are. But once I started adding everything up, I was surprised at how much it exceeds others on here.

Between the fridge and the stove:
kitchenaid mixer in the corner
3 canisters (flour, sugar, tea)
knifeblock

To the right of the stove:
cluster of decorative/use glass oil containers and pepper grinder
stackable mugs
keurig (I keep kcups in cabinet above)

To the right of the sink:
cookbooks
decorative plaque on a stand
soap dispenser
drainer when in use

To the left of the sink:
container for brushes/sponges
caddie for phones/keys

It sounds like a lot, but I still have plenty of open counter space for cooking/working though it's not a large kitchen. I think the fact that the kitchen is a wide galley means less corners you can't do anything with. Also, most of the stuff is flush to the wall so it doesn't interfere with cooking/working, etc. I am religious about putting most appliances away: toaster, blender, cuisinart, etc. I tried to cook in a friends kitchen a few weeks ago that was very angular and full up with appliances and I started to feel claustrophobic ;) Course, she also had those cabinets where you open it and there's a 50% chance some kind of tupperware will fall out onto your head. :rotfl: I'm a freak about keeping my cabinets and drawers organized (thank you, Ikea! ; ) )

Purse goes on the left side of the rectangular kitchen table. We never use that side anyway :rolleyes1

I only keep a glass cookie jar with dog bones in it, a toaster over, coffee maker and Kitchenaid mixer and my knives. I hate clutter on the counters.

My dh is a clean freak. We use all the items below on an almost daily basis, so they stay on the counter:

4-slice toaster
drain rack
Kitchenaid mixer
can opener
basket w/ snacks
papertowels
