My DS won't eat pureed baby food anymore. I really don't remember what I gave my other two at this age. He eats cereal in the mornings, mashed bananas, Cherrios, cheese, pasta, ypogurt. What else do you feed your 11 month old?

Have you tried the toddler babyfood? I think i used to take chicken nuggets and break them up into tiny pieces when my kids were that small. I also gave DS and DD waffles broken up into small pieces for breakfast,

DD is 11 months and is just cuttinger first teeth so she's still on pureed baby food. She does much on cheerios and crackers. We have given her applesauce, mashed potatoes, oatmeal (both baby and regular), tiny slivers of oranges and grapes, and small pieces of bread. Once the teth come in I hope to start her on other forms of food, but for the time being it's what's ever pureed.

Ds was in daycare at 11 months. from 11-12 months they actually gave him two plates; said that they had to give him baby food because of the food program requirements, but that they liked to allow them to get a taste of the 'real' food that they would switch him to at 12 months. They helped me with TONS of ideas, cuz I was at a loss too. DS did have a LOT of teeth by that point, and I know that will affect what you feed them.

He loved rice and bean casserole (pretty much just rice and beans), hamburger casserole (hamburger in very small peices in a cream soup/noodle mixture), all fruits of course with applesauce and bananas being the favorite. The also served cheese, all the veggies (corn, peas, carrots, etc.) sometimes they would get turkey and cranberry sauce (which HE LOVED but i hated for stains :-)). Mashed potatoes. tuna and noodles, cottage cheese, etc.

The baby food plate always had a fruit, a veggie, and a meat.

Hope that helps you! It has been over a year so it is hard to remember everything!

At that age my son had 6 teeth  (they came 4 at once, and 2 maybe 6 days later-the rosey cheeks he had were comical..but the fevers and crying took me right to the ledge on one foot for sure!) But he was totally into "pastina w/ butter & parm cheese". This was his staple for sure..and we would add chopped brocolli also. Try it, I dont know a baby that wouldn't enjoy it. :flower:

Chicken nuggets (baked) and cut up into bite size pieces. Pasta with parm and butter, tortellini with Ragu, peas, corn, carrots (cooked) cheese, loves quesadillas!

At night we have been giving her a few bites of rice pudding to try to fill her up a bit. It seems like she just snacks all day and really doesn't consume a lot of food. The doctor says that normal...thankfully!

sweet potatoes mashed up, carrots same way-- there was always some texture there. Tiny pieces of chicken and meat that was small enough to be o.k. to be swallowed - my DS cut his teeth late and didn't get the idea of chewing for a while

Mine always ate alot of soup at this age.Either creamy soups or if she wanted to feed herself I would buy vegetable soup and drain off the juice.Vegall was also the perfect size. Also fruit cups are wonderful-most are very easy to chew.

You just reminded me of something ds has always loved. I dont think I figured this out until after his first birthday though.

He LOVES a lipton cup of soup with potato flakes added to it. Can you tell I really needed to get to the store one day :rotfl:

Anyway, just heat up a coffee cup of water, dump in a chicken noodle soup packet, and then put enough potato flakes so that they can eat it by themselves with a spoon.

It give the potatoes some flavor, and is the only way he can neatly manage soup.

At that age we did grilled cheese, meatloaf, sweet potato fries, waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, all kinds of canned/jarred fruits, all kinds of canned veggies or cooked soft, noodles, the toddler jarred meat sticks (YUK!), toast, yogurt. I would usually offer whatever we were eating as long as it was fairly soft and cut into small pieces. Her favorite was (and still is) roast beef, carrots, and potatoes.

At 12 months she thew a fit when she saw big brothers eating corn on the cob when hers was cut off, so I gave her one that had been cooked to be very soft. She LOVED it and did just fine (she did have a few teeth!)

Not trying to be judgmental, but most of these choices are very salty for an 11 month old diet - chicken nuggets, Lipton soup, flaked potatoes, canned sauces (also sweet). As someone who has lived with allergies and food sensitivities my whole life, and now with my DD2 having the same issues, you all need to be really careful with the amount of packaged and prepared foods that you are feeding your infants as nutrition experts and pediatricians have already made connections with this type of diet at such a young age with later health problems in life.

Also, corn on the cob is an absolutely no-no for the chokeable factor (doesn't matter if it's cooked softly or not as corn kernels stick to the throat and esophagus) as well as it's a highly allergenic food.

Sorry, if anyone takes my post in the wrong way, but a lot of the above mentioned foods are not optimal for children of this age at all.

Tiger926 - what do you feed your child?--please give some suggestions.

I didn't mention watermelon as again it's highly allergenic - mold family. Hubby and I are both allergic to mold, so no melons of any kind for us or are daughter. Watermelon itself is safe to eat at this age, but the mold issue is something that most parents don't know anything about either.

Ok I work for a non profit. Call your local WIC women infants & children. I am sure U have one near U. Even if you dont qualify they have wonderful recipes and nutrionists onstaff that will help you. Most of these people work for less $$ than than they could in public area. You would also be amazed at the guidelines for WIC they are much higher than U think.

The recipes and books are in printed bookes, handout paper If you dont feel comfortable going for whatever reason. I can try to pick some up. I know they print up small recipe books to use fresh veggies and such from the farmers market. I will try to call Tues and see if they will put together a packet. I'll check back tuesday. Oh dont forget mac & cheese just cut scissor cut to size. My kids loved it. also spagetti U can make some and just scissor cut it til it is small pieces. I fed 10 kids and only used jar food for the 2 oldest. Made my own out of on hand for the rest. Oatmeal for breakfast just mix in some brown sugar and cinamon. If you bring to disney use coffee pot to make packets. I know messy I always put a shower curtain on the floor around my high chair at home (rugs) when dinner was over just pop into the washer with the days towels and shake out the exess water and all ready for the next day. I had 2-3 just incase at then 2/$1 cheap if they tear. Now I use under my grandkids highchairs. good for bed wetters under the sheets with a towel saves time I put one on and then cover with another set. pull one off and all ready for the rest of the night. Throw the sheets in the wash and wait for the next set in the am if needed.

My granddaughter Callista just turned a year. She never had any pureed or commercial baby foods, but eats a wide variety of foods. We usually just mash them a little (things like cooked carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, soft fruits like peaches, kiwi or avocado) or let her eat them as finger foods (cooked peas, small pieces of baked tofu, etc.) She likes hummus a lot and also eats chicken (we shred it for her) and loves beans (either baked beans or bean soup or a mild home-made chili). She is allergic to dairy so doesn't have any dairy products, but does sometimes have soy yogurt. She likes oatmeal (usually we make this overnight in the crockpot - no sugar added, just some chopped apple to sweeten it, with the overnight cooking it gets very soft, plus some cinnamon, then add a little soy milk when you serve it), barley, brown rice, and whole wheat toast "fingers." Haven't given her eggs at this point because we have egg allergies in our family.

She's an enthusiastic eater - my daughter-in-law has taught her to do the "baby sign language" and we all know the signs for "food" and "more" because we see them a lot!

Thanks for the ideas. I'm always hesitant to start table foods due to choking. I guess it's a phobia of mine. I gave him pasta the other night and smashed it so much my DH thought it would disappear! He does have a lot of teeth so I have to start worrying less. Tonight we're having breaded chicken cutlets rice and broccoli. I'll try some of that or if Im not brave enought to do whole meat, I'll make some pastina.

My little angel is a picky one too, at times, and a tiny one at only 15lbs. She loves her yogurt, fruit and veggie puffs (in baby food aisle). She eats deli sliced turkey now (seems odd being that shes just cutting first teeth) but she grabbed it from my salad one day, ate it, then stuck her adorable lil hand out for more. Ive heard and read that babies sholdnt have deli sliced meats, but she loves it so much. And I practically stand on my head trying to get her to eat half a jar of stage 2 dinner :upsidedow
