OT - What age for haunted house?

What age would you let your child go to a haunted house?

Just curious because my son has asked to go to a Haunted House but before I get slammed, he's 7 and I said NO but would consider it if it was for kids (we've done a "Friendly Haunted House" and of course Haunted Mansion) - but this was a grown up, bloody, gory one that would probably make me pee my pants from fright.

It would so depend on the house. Some are fun, "b00scary and some are WAY over the top even for teens. I remember going to some as a teen in the late 70's -80's that i would consider "R" rated so i can image what they are now. I also know some local churches that do "fun" scary that would be fine for a 7 year old. Get a trusted opinion, or visit it first yourself.

Does he want to go? It really depends on the kid. My DD doesn't like them at 15 and won't go but her best friend when they were little loved them and started going to them in second grade with her older brother.

Some of them have a system of notifying the actors to play it down a bit for young kids- I guess I would want to know if this was the case.

Who was he going to go with-that would matter also.

My son is almost 4, and insisted on going, so we brought him. My mom stayed with my 2 year old. He was scared, but in his eyes it was more of a "fun scared" if you know what I mean. He did not opt to go back on it!

Check around. I know where I live we have some haunted houses that do special showings for the younger kids that are far less scary than normal.

I have not yet taken my kids who are 4.5 and 3 and don't plan to until they ask.

My 2 year old LOVED it! As did my 7 year old nephew! Now, my 10 year old niece refused to go onto it!
