OT: weekend trip Storyland, NH or York Animal Kingdom, ME?

Hi... I'm also from MA. Definitely Story Land and Santa's Village. Both parks are great and each has it's advantages. You could easily do both parks in one trip. We stayed at Attitash last summer (rented someone's ski condo for three nights)... it was less than 10 mins from Story Land and about 50 mins from Santa's Village.

BTW... we should all start our own thred called "DISers from Ma" or something. Just a thought.

Thanks for everyone's advice, we're going with Storyland! And there are lots of Disers from MA!

Have fun @ Story Land.... and one thing that no one mentioned is they have the misting tents located around the park. So if you and the kids get too hot just pop in. I actually wish WDW would have those in the summer. It would be kind of cool. :goodvibes

Or Disers for New England!!!!!

"DISers from New England" works too! I'll try to get something going. Look for a post in the near future.

To the OP: Have a great time. Try the Red Parka for dinner.

And if you are there on a Sunday AM, try the Red Fox for a brunch buffett that will knock your socks off. I hear it's good for dinner too. And it's great for kids... they have a really cool kids play area.

Also be sure to stop in Zeb's for the candy counter. It goes on forever, and has all kinds of yummies!

No matter what you do, still bring the kids to Southwick's in Mendon as we have a great little zoo here that's just perfect for kids - and adults. They have really done a lot in the last few years to make it more appealing for everyone.

My vote is Storyland! I've been to both places and I think it will give you a good idea of the pace and crowds and walking, etc. I'm bringing my DD to WDW for the first time in October and I did the same thing...I figured, if she can handle a day or two at a local park, she can handle WDW. Storyland has a lot to see and the crowds aren't too bad. Our longest waits for rides was about 20-30 mins (which is probably half the time to wait at WDW). DD did fine, but I did see a lot of cranky pants around us having meltdowns and tantrums. The whole north conway area in general is beautiful and there are tons of good restaurants as well. I spend a lot of time in North Conway and go as many times as I can :)

One more very important note for a happy visit to Storyland -- plan to arrive when it opens, and leave by 1 pm. Otherwise, you will be surrounded by meltdown city! Alternately, arrive late one day and come back in the morning. There are plenty of parents who are determined to get their money's worth (just like at WDW), and they stay long past when their little darlings should have been napping...

I've always wanted to eat at one of those places but a place not to eat is the Muddy Moose. We have given it a try 3 times and always has terrible service.

I agree about the Muddy Moose. We were highly disappointed. Thumbs down.

I'd say Storyland..we've gone every year for 9 years and it's a summer must for us. This year we're camping right smack in the middle of NH so we can hit Storyland and Santa's Village.

I've been to York and it's OK, but I'd rather spend the time at Storyland.

What about going to Seseame Street in PA!

OK I know a lot of people from MA and RI read this. Boy did we just have crazy weather pass thru here. There is a tornado warning, and there was a water spout in Barrington RI. Not something you see everyday in MA. Hope everyone is OK.:goodvibes

Really, a tornado warning??? I'm in southern NH, and it's pouring like crazy with thunder, but I haven't heard a warning for this area. I'll have to check it out - thanks!!!!

I was working in Pawtucket and it was raining and thundering like crazy. I thought the power was going to go out. But it seems no one has gotten hurt except on policeman responding to someone who was zapped by lightning through his saw that he was using. I guess he is OK but the policeman was in a car accident and is a the hospital with minor injuries. But I think we are getting more storms tonight and tomorrow. Crazy weather.:scared:

I was listening the radio and they were giving all the instructions on what to do if the tornado hit -and the news guys sounded really nervous!!! Made me nervous! The thunder scared the peanuts out of my kids!

And to the OP - definitely do storyland or Santa's village. You'll get hooked -we go every summer- my kids love it!

Is it ever going to stop raining????? We went to Santa's Village on Saturday and it actually was nice... just sprinkles but it has not stopped raining. We were up in NH & ME for the week and it must have rained everyday.

I am now back in RI and we are going to a beach house we rented with family and it is supposed to rain all week again.

And the worst part is there is no wifi or tv

I am totally confused because I posted about Storyland and Santa's Village a few times recently, thought at least one of the posts was in this thread, but I don't see it? Maybe I never did! :lmao:

Anyway, speaking of all the recent heavy rain storms--thankfully we hit Storyland and SV already (and A day out with Thomas), on what was probably the only 2 weekends of clear weather this summer.

I know a lot of friends whose camping trips were canceled/ruined :headache:

It must be close to record rains this summer....
