It's not a family movie. And I'm pretty sure there's something there to offend or sicken everyone. Don't go if you're the sensitive type.....

More important than a warning (since this is the guy who did Borat) is -

Did you like it? :)

Was it entertaining? Yes, very. I'm not sure I want to say I liked it, as that is a very disturbing thought.

I would think liking it and being entertained by it would be the same. I'll check it out for sure but not worth it for me until it hits Netflix. Deb on the other hand may want nothing to do with it. :)

I can't wait to see it! Cohen is fearless and although I would hate to be one of his "victims", I think he is crazy and funny. I heard it is miles past the offensiveness of Borat...which I find a bit hard to imagine.

I was going to see it, but I changed my mind. SBC is a little much for me. Plus, the uncomfortable feeling I get from The Office is sometimes too much for me. I can't imagine what it would be for this movie.

Really? Yeah, you should probably stay miles away from this movie then!

Are you talking about the tv show on NBC? If so what is so uncomfortable about that that show? I feel like your comparing a very clean and well written tv show to a crude and demoralizing writer such as SBC.:scared1:

Maybe I am over reading your statement:confused3 To each his own but if you are comparing them they are not even in the same league!!

My life is in limbo until the new season of The Office and 30 Rock come back!:sad1: Until then I get to discover all the old seasons on HULU!

To be expected from Cohen really.
Although Bruno is my least favourite of his characters, he is a very clever man.
He Is also apparently very shy - he rarely gives interviews as 'himself'.
One thing tho, a lot of his stuff (a good deal of Borat's movie for example) is set up, ie his 'victims' are in on it. Still some very funny stuff tho :)

To be fair, the original uk version of the Office was played to be uncomfortable and cringeworthy, it's the kind of comedy us Brits do best. Check out a show called Peep Show if you can, it's genius

Every time I watch Diversity Day, Health Care, and Back from Vacation, I always want to cover my face and groan when I see certain scenes. I also love the TV show Extras, but I have to skip some episodes of that as well. Both are among my fave shows and are well written, but there are certain episodes I can't watch. I was thinking that if I can't handle those shows, I will have a much bigger problem with SBC.

I actually don't have a problem with The Office's crudeness. It's a network show, so it's pretty tame. I watch True Blood, if that tells you anything. The only problem I have with that show is that a great deal of the crude things in that show are not necessary to the story. It's just HBO trying to show off how much it can do. I guess Mr. Cohen is the same way.

I hope that clears up my statement. I'm not terribly good at being pithy. :thumbsup2

The Office? Really? The one about the paper company? I guess Crudeness is in the eye of the beholder too, because I would never have guessed that one. To each their own!

That last sentence was about True Blood, actually. :thumbsup2

3 OF MY FAVS:rotfl:!!

Actually I totally understand what your saying! I don't watch just anything for couple of reasons. 1)if it's crap I can never get that time back! it's lost forever!

2)I have a personal line that I draw. with the internet and the news and network tv I feel like I and my family are exposed to enough "crap" so like you I try to really "filter" by choosing the lesser of the "evils" if that makes any sence:confused3

I'm sorry, but underneath all of the random jokes and crude humor, SBC does make a very important point about some of the attitudes towards certain members of our society. The last scene was golden... and I was crying I was laughing so hard.

That said, if you are the type that is mildly offended, do yourself a favor and skip the movie. You won't be happy.

I just got back from seeing the movie. It is definitely raunchy, provocative and lewd. I was surprised to see one or two kids in the theater. If you're going to go, read all the warnings and be prepared.

I completely get what you're saying. Personally, I'm a fan of both SBC and The Office. While one is obviously MUCH tamer than the other, and not really comparable within the comedy genre, both create a specific feeling of uncomfortableness that makes me want to cringe and look away. Whether Michael is acting like a total idiot, or SBC is acting like a total idiot to show how idiotic other people truly are, it can be hard to watch. But with both, I always come back for more.

See I am not a big fan of The Office, I have never found Ricky Gervais particularly funny. I do, however, LOVE Peep Show! Great actors, great characters, the occassional want to bury my head in a pillow out of cringing but apart from that, it's all good!

I'm not a massive fan of the Office either, and much prefer the US version.

But like you, I love Peep Show. It's up with I'm Alan Partridge for my favourite comedies ever! I think everyone (well, man) has a bit of Mark and a bit of Jeremy in them, and it's seeing the extremes which makes for great comedy.
However I don't think anyone is quite like Super Hans :lmao:
