OT - venting - DH forgot to mail absentee ballots!

DH just realized he forgot to mail out our absentee ballots! I hope it gets through in time and we can still vote. I'm so annoyed because I'm the one to handle the mail, and for some reason he said he would take care of that personally. And then he left them in his briefcase. Argh.

I did absentee ballots while I was in college, the results for my state were announced before they even received my envelope I'm sure. :/

I think I'm especially annoyed because I actually feel strongly about this election (whereas last election i felt was "who is the lesser of the two evils?", lol!

When do the ballots have to be in by? We are still registering people to vote!

Actually, it's not the ballots themselves -- its the card that we mail in to get the actual ballot that we then mail back. Does that make any sense? So I don't know when the ballots have to be in by, but the cards we due like, a month ago. I hope he mailed it today!

We had this moment of panic today. DH is AD military so we have to absentee ballot since we are both registered in other states. He thought he had missed the deadline for my state and called the voter registration office and they are sending out my ballot ASAP so I can vote. He hasn't gotten in touch with the office in his state (TX) yet to see if he can still vote.

Because of the situation in Iraq we feel strongly about our votes so I was devastated when I thought we had missed the deadline.

If he didn't mail them, is there a place you can go & deliver them? We did that the one year we were not going to be around for election day. We delivered the request form to the County Courthouse so that they sent us the ballot pretty quick.

It took about a week to get our actual ballots after I mailed in the form, so if you mail them now you might be ok. Ours went to a local address.
