OT- uncalled for facebook comment

Good for you, taking the high road! Although I talk about my WDW trips after i get back, or occas. say something about an upcoming trip, I'm always careful on FB. I never want to broadcast when I'll be away. Even though i think I have high privacy settings, I don't trust it.

People sure are strange, aren't they! She sounds like a very sad person. And not much of a friend.

This thread reminded me of a story I heard and thought I would share:

Something to think about when a negative person is trying to rain on your parade. We all know one.
A New York woman was at her hairdresser's on Park Avenue getting her hair styled prior to a trip to Rome with her boyfriend. She mentions the trip to her hairdresser, who responded.
Rome! Why would anyone want to go to there? It's crowded, dirty and full of Italians. Your crazy to go to Rome. So how are you getting there?
We're taking Continental, was the reply. We got a great rate.
Continental! exclaimed the hairdresser, that's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendents are ugly and they're always late.
So where are you staying in Rome?
We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's left bank called Teste.
Don't go any further, I know that place. Everybody thinks its gonna be something special and exclusive, but its really a dump, the worst hotel in the city. The rooms are small, the service is bad and they're overpriced.
So, whatcha doing when you get there?
We're going to the Vatican and hope we see the Pope.
That's rich laughed the hairdresser. You and a million other people trying to see him, he'll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours, you're going to need it.
A month later the womem again comes in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome.
It was wonderful explained the women, not only were we on time in one of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28 year old steward who waited on me hand and foot. And the hotel, it was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling job and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They too were overbooked so they apologized and gave us their most expensive suite at no extra charge.
Well muttered the hairdresser, that's all well and good, but I know you didn't see the Pope.
Actually we were quite lucky because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me.
Oh really, what'd he say? the hairdresser enquired.
He said "Where'd you get that crappy hairdo?"

I don't know about you folks but I post an occasional update about our upcoming Disney. Vacation.
Well, today I posted a status about my daughter and niece watching Disney movies in our van during our 4 hour drive to visit my mom.
A "friend" posted what I feel was a nasty comment. She said "Dislike...I am sick of your updates about all of your trips your planning. You are just bragging."

I can assure you that bragging is not and never was my intention. I update my status about twice a week and it isn't always about about vacation.

Do any of you have that kind of experience. Sorry but I needed to vent.

Thanks for listening.

I am only friends with people I am actually friends with. So, while I have not personally experienced this, I know others who have. Personally, I would unfriend that person. YMMV.

Have a great trip!

It's about her not you... If she doesn't like your post she doesn't have to read them.

Exactly!! Yeesh. Glad it's resolved--good riddance!

And may I say I am *very* jealous of all those folks who post pictures of their glorious gardens, or kitchen renos. That's never gonna be me. So I skim their posts, or else I just shut up. And then I leave fb, go elsewhere online and do some trip planning. :teeth:

hahah I love this! :thumbsup2

I agree with the previous posters - a true friend would be happy for you that you are so excited. Easier said than done, but try not to let it get to you. I know my kids have had a few comments about how do we afford to go to Disney World every year (or why we would want to), but everyone has their preferences and priorities.

Check and see if there is a Facebook group for when you are going. If there isn't, then start one. I have been a member of group for February trips the last two years and they are a lot of fun. You can talk about your plans and excitement all you like and know that the other members of the group are just as excited as you are. When we were at the dessert party at MK this year we actually ran into someone else who had been a member the last couple of years also and it was great to meet them.

That's the way it is for me now...I've made so many connections through the DisUnplugged Podcast that when I go it's like meeting up with family...sadly I only get to go every couple of years but some of them see me more then my own family! :lmao:
