My family is coming out to TO for Grey Cup this November and we were wondering if we have to pack our car seats for our kids. Our girls will be 6 and 2 when we fly in. We weren't going to rent a car but was wondering about the rules regarding taxis and limos.

Anybody know?

Mainly we are just looking at the trip from the airport to the hotel and back again.

I think taxis and limos are exempt from the car seat rule. S

Hi yes taxis and limos you dont need a car seat (unless its the mini van ones they have asked me before for car seats at times) but I wouldnt worry about it. ALSO depends on where you are they can also take TTC from the airport which they have stright routes to the subways easy to monouver..
DONT FORGET IF you are all travelling on the TTC on Saturdays or Sundays about getting day passes which is good for 2 adults and 4 kids or 2 adults or 1 adult and 5 kids and right now the price is $8.50 but TTC will be increasing prices in November so it might go up abit but that also helps getting around for a family its unlimited travel but you would have to buy 1 each day you travel still cheaper then buying tickets if you plan on doing alot of getting on and off the TTC that weekend

Thanks for the info. This is our first trip to TO so we aren't sure what or where we are going. I know we have a ressie at 1 One King West and the Skydome (err Rogers Centre) isn't too far from there. Haven't figured out all the other Grey Cup events we are looking at yet.

This is the first I have heard of a TTC... Guess I'll have some more research to do today.

Welcome to Toronto.

Staying downtown you will not need a car. The idea of buying TTC, Toronto transit Commision, day passes is excellent. If you plan to explore some of the city's neighbourhoods, The Beaches (pease don't flame me because I didn't call it the "The Beach"), The Danforth, The Kingsway, Queen West (your kids can get a piercing or a tattoo). http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/family_pass.htm

But you probably won't need the TTC if you are planning to walk around downtown. The south end of the Eaton Centre is only 3 blocks north on Yonge @ Queen. Getting to the rogers Centre is really easy. If the weather is inclement just walk down to Union station and talk the Sywalk over to the Stadium

As for taking the TTC from the airport. If I was back packing it with a couple of buddies that would be great (save on beer money). But with two little ones and luggage, and all of the stairs and broken escalators on the TTC, a taxi or limo would be the way to go.

As for car seats, I never understood how they are required in your car but not on a bus or taxi? If my kids were still using car seats I would bring them. But that's just my preference

Enjoy Toronto

If you plan to explore some of the city's neighbourhoods, The Beaches (pease don't flame me because I didn't call it the "The Beach") .... snip .....

:rotfl2: No, I think I would have flamed you ;) if you had referred to my longtime neighbourhood/home (since 1972) as The Beach..............

Pet peeve of mine. It is NOT The "Beach", it is "Beaches" .... there are several beaches that make up the area........grrrrrrr...........
