Hello all!
My DH & I will celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary on May 2nd & since we're broke from 4 WDW trips in 2006 we are sticking close to home for a weekend away. Can anyone here give a recommendation of a Toronto hotel, doesn't have to be the Four Seasons but nice and relaxing?

We've stayed at the Westin Harbor Castle and the Four Seasons and neither one is a place we'd love to head back to, they were fine but pricey and both were full of business travelers.

Anyplace that comes to mind where we could spend a nice relaxing weekend in between some romantic dinners and a show?

:) Definitely the Sheraton City Centre hotel on Queen street.
We stay there every winter for a trip with the kids ususally in the winter. It is one block from Eaton Centre and directly across the street from Nathan Philips Square ...request a room overlooking it....lit up at night and the skating rink is always going (artificial rink) and people are skating at all hours. Plus the pool is an indoor/outdoor pool that is always warm and it's cool to swim outside in winter. The breakfast buffet is the best I have ever had. You can walk underground to Hudsons Bay store (8 floors) and then hop across the street to the eaton center. You can walk to all the theatres if you want to see a show also.
It can be pricey but check online specials...they always have some. We had a good deal in December for 199.00night we had a room overlooking Nathan square, free parking (25.00value) and breakfast included. Sweet.
Love it there.
Denise

Have you tried looking at the Hilton or Holiday Inn? There is also a Marriott by the Eaton Centre.

mollyseven-thanks, that's just the kind of recommendation/review I was looking for! I'll check to see if they have any special rates or deals going on for that weekend. :)

Scratch42-yes, I was trying to see if anyone had any personal experience with a particular hotel that they liked. Thanks!

Another thought would be The Royal York. We love it there and "The Library" is a great place to kick back and not leave the Hotel.....ahhhhhh

I like the Royal York on their Gold Floor (12) you check in up there at the their own check in desk. There is a private lounge for the 12th floor guests only with continental breakfast, evening appetizers, desserts coffee, tea, soft drinks and an honour bar. That is where we always stay when we are in Toronto, I have 2 rooms booked for March 17 & 18th, we are going to some shows.

I don't like the regular rooms though, just the 12th floor

laura-thx for mentioning it. I had checked availability there before I even posted here but they seem to be booked for the first weekend of May. I did just check for the previous weekend and that is available so we may try for that one.

Cass-thanks for the opinion, I read your latest trip report and saw that you had "Jane" for your guide one day. We had her back when we took my mom for her 1st trip to WDW and used her services in MGM as well, it brought back fond memories. My mother used an ECV to get around and got a little more confident driving it each day. On the day that "Jane" was with us, my mom started going the wrong way and we called her back to correct her direction when she spouted out with "Its Disney World, there is no wrong way!". "Jane" near burst out in tears we were all laughing so hard. A great memory to think back on now that my is passed. Anyway, I appreciate your comments as I remember when we first went to AKL & I read your trip reports way back then! :):cat:

I can book the 12th floor of the Royal York for the last weekend of April for about $630 Canadian so I may just go for that! :)

Hi welovedis, thanks for reading my TR, glad you can relate to the VIP Guide, it was a wonderful day :)
