Hi all, this may be a really crazy question but I am flying solo next week to Nashville and on the way home I have a 3 hour layover in Toronto. For you Easterners (I have never been to TO), would it be at all likely to grab a cab from the airport to the CN tower? How far is it? I just got thinking today that maybe it would be neat to run over and see it since I don't imagine I will ever see it otherwise. I did this once when I got laid up in Minneapolis (bussed over to Mall of America). Would a cab be the best option to get to the CN tower, and if so, would there be enough time?? Thanks for your help!

I think it will be tight. Without traffic it will probably take you 30 minutes to get from the airport to the CN Tower. So depending on the time of day you are looking at 1hour of travel time. Will you need time to check in to the flight? If there is traffic you can almost double that time.

If you do it then consider calling ahead for an airport limo. I think their rates are about $55-$75 each way, but the guy may wait for you while you sightsee. Most cabs will charge a flat rate to the airport so do some research on those flat rates before you get there.

Thank you so much! That's exactly the information I am looking for. I am not a "cutting it close" kind of person so I will definitely rule it out. I just had no idea how TO is set up and how far apart they would really be. Thank you very very much!! I won't put any more brainpower into it!

You will probably have to clear customs in Toronto and that could take awhile depending when you arrive and what terminal.

Came in last night into Terminal 3 and it took over 45 minutes from the time the plane landed till I was outside, and there was no line up at Canadian Customs and I was carry on, but we came in on one of the far run ways and we taxied for miles and then we were at the farthest gate and it was quite the hike.

Exactly, who knows how long customs will take. I think I'll just enjoy my few hours in the airport. I am excited to fly by myself and be able to people-watch and not have to worry about losing a child or anything ;) I'll be in terminal 1...maybe I'll find something exciting to do. Maybe I'll even have a glass of over-priced airport wine which I have never actually done! The possibilities are endless! Thanks for your help!

deanna, you can also take a shuttle to terminal 3 which has some more shops/restaurants. just a few, mind you.
and the shuttle is like the 'mini monorail' at MCO

plus you would also have to make sure you leave time to go through security again, which is different from customs.
