OT- tooth fairy amount

My kid got 5 for the first tooth (neighbor kid got 10, I wasn't going there) and I had planned to scale back, but then the second tooth was knocked out by grandma's dog when kid was playing so she got 5 for that. I haven't managed to go back yet. Also, my kid so wants her teeth she writes a note to the TF every time and asks if she can keep her teeth, so far the TF has been willing to leave them. TF made a mistake the first time and left a note back, now the TF is expected to leave a note back each time......

omg inflation sure has shot up...I remember getting 50 cents a tooth...and I was happy with that:confused3

Same here.We used to get $.25/tooth(unless grandpa was there, then it was $1.00) Nowadays losing a tooth COSTS $125.00.:rolleyes1

We do $1 a tooth also .. but to make it special, we went to the bank and got the golden Sacajaweah (sp??) dollars .. they are so cool that my daughter doesn't mind that the other kids get more for their teeth .. she gets gold dollars!:thumbsup2 She even took the last one to "Show and tell" and it was a huge hit with the other kids!!!!

Friends of ours do Sacajawea dollars too, which is great. I like our idea the best, however: since the Tooth Fairy travels the world, she leaves foreign money for teeth at our house. It's great because there is no comparing amounts with other kids, and the money is so cool that our DD just loves it. We travel a lot in our family, so have a little stash always, but if you don't, it's easy to get spare change from friends who were recently-people always seem to bring some back.

Our dd is the only one to lose teeth so far. she got $5 for the first tooth, and $2 for every tooth after. She also gets an animal of some kind, which the Tooth Fairy finds at Target. this is because of Charlie and Lola, on the Disney Channel. Lola lost her first tooth and got a giraffe or something, so of course Daphne needed an animal, too. She's got 6 different animals so far, and is anxiously awaiting her next tooth to come out. LOL

She places her tooth in a Pooh bear Tooth Fairy plush. He is dressed with wings, and holding a tooth that is open into a little pocket on top. I got it at the Disney Store before Daphne's first tooth fell out. Also, I leave different colors of glitter. We have a theory, that just like Tinkerbell lives in Pixie Hollow with many different fairies, surely there must be more than one Tooth Fairy, and they all live together in some magical tooth land.

Lord, I think my kids are corrupting me!

The tooth fairy left DS6 a Disney$5 when he lost his first tooth at Disneyland last fall. (She didn't have any smaller bills on hand. :rolleyes1 )

He's lost 2 other teeth since then, for $1 apiece. The last was a silver dollar, which he thought was pretty cool, so think the TF is going to get a stash of those... ;)

ok ... funny tooth fairy story for you all ...
My oldest daughter lost a tooth once in a car in San Francisco. We were driving through town with grandma and an aunt and uncle we had been visiting. During the drive, we were visited by three tooth fairies .. they left various amounts of money all over the car. It was funny ... but wait ... there's more ...

Once we got home, my daughter overheard a conversation I was having with one of my parents at the school where I taught. They were planning a trip to SF in a few weeks. My little one (6 at the time) piped up with the following announcement ...

"Wow .. you are going to Fran San Cisco??? That's where ALL the fairies live!!!"

K .. I spent the next 15 minutes explaining where that comment came from to the parents ...

LOL :rotfl: I love kids!

I always got a quarter or some other "change" when I was a kid and honestly I don't remember what we gave my oldest. I think it was like a buck or something maybe 2 but I know with my middle daughter we gave her 2 bucks and so when my youngest just lost her first it is the same. All must be equal you know ;)

I am glad to hear that I am in the realm. When I tell people they get 2 bucks a tooth they think I am nuts but obviously not! :)

Way back in the Dark Ages we got 25 cents a tooth. Now, it's $1.00 - never more than that. But then they call Grandpa, who "moans and groans" about having the kids stealing yet another dollar from his wallet (the kids love this part!), and a dollar arrives in the mail a few days later. So, basically they get $2.00 per tooth, but that's spreading payment around!

The kids then save their dollars (which they also get from their grandparents on holidays like Valentines Day) for special trips to spend there. They love to count their dollars!
