Hello all. just had DS loose his first tooth and have no idea what the going rate is for the tooth fairy/ any info would help.

Our tooth fairy paid a dollar per tooth. :) Of course our son was so in 'awe' of his lost teeth, that after only a couple dollars he started saving his teeth. He asked me if I thought the tooth fairy would leave the dollar AND leave the tooth. I told him that I didn't think so. LOL

I always got $1 growing up - but I have heard $5 or more is getting to be the norm for people (a least from what I have heard). Perhaps you should ask over on the budget board. . .

I have 4 kids. I paid $5 for tooth #1 (high in my standards but Bitsy the spoiled only child up the street- got $10 and I didn't want my kids to think TF hates them! I told them she must not have had her glasses on that night!).All others- $1 or something specific to the place where it came out (ie DD pulled one out in line at Disneyland-TF brought Disney $$).
Nothing for a filled tooth or one that has to be pulled by a dentist(hasn't happened yet but I thought it would encourage good dental care!)

I kept their 1st tooth to put in their scrapbooks-told the kids the TF puts it under MY pillow because she knows how precious the 1st ones are to mommy!

My sister and I used to get $3 per tooth and $5 for molars...........hope that helps:)

When my oldest child was young, it was $1 per tooth. The amount slowly increased with each child over the years. Now it's $5 per tooth.

omg inflation sure has shot up...I remember getting 50 cents a tooth...and I was happy with that:confused3

$1 per tooth here too. My kids are happy, they love spending it at the Target dollar spot or Dollar Tree, or even a can of pringles at Walmart. LOL ;) I only got a quarter, maybe 50 cents as a kid so I think we're doing okay!

$2 if the tooth fell out on its own, a little more when the dentist has had to pull them.

Our tooth fairy is squeeky cheap too  $1 per tooth.

I believe we did $5 for the first tooth, it's special since it's first! Then I want to say $2-3 per tooth after that.

wow... I need to finsh Dental School to pay out my kids... $5 a tooth times 20 teeth.. I'll go broke!

I only got a quarter.. Got the wisdom teeth pulled at 22 and put them under the pillow..
The tooth fairy left me the bill....:thumbsup2

We gave our kids $5 plus one quarter, one dime, one nickel and one penny. We also put a little silver glitter under the pillow.

When I was a kid we could put the tooth under the pillow for $1.00 or in a box next to the bed for a small present.

Ds lost one of his molars at the pool yesterday and TF gave him $5. TF gives our kids $5 for 1st tooth and $2 bills for others with $5 for molars. Ds was so enthralled with his fist molars that he didn't want the tooth fairy to take it away. DH bought it from him for $2 so it could be saved. LOL

hi there, my youngest just lost her last tooth...i have 3 kids and they all got about $5 for the first and last tooth and somewhere between $2 and 3 for the other teeth...my youngest also lost a tooth at disneyworld and that tooth was worth a little extra but cant remember what she actually got...wow, i should figure out what all those teeth cost me :rotfl2:

I got 25 cents a tooth growing up-

My sons get $1.00 a tooth and they are estatic to get that. In fact my oldest has another loose tooth and his first comment was, "I am going to get another dollar!"

About 5 years ago my sister and her family were moving cross country and they were at a rest stop. Her oldest went to the bathroom and came out running showing his mom that his first tooth fell out. A gentleman was nearby and came over and asked him about it and then handed him $10.00 saying that the toothfairy gave it to him to give to him, but he could still keep the tooth. My nephew's eyes were bigger than you could imagine. Then my sister is thinking...How am I going to convince him $10.00 is not the norm.

We have pretty big problems in our neighborhood with the tf leaving very different amounts for teeth. So, at our house the tooth fairy always leaves a small toy, and a pack of "tooth fairy gum". (Trident fruit). It doesn't break the bank, and ds feels extra special that the tf always knows what he's collecting at the moment. The funniest one was the tooth he lost on Christmas eve - we had to explain to him that the tooth fairy has a union agreement to not work on certain days already allocated to others (like Santa, Easter Bunny...). She also "ran out" of tooth fairy gum one time when the tooth came out late at night - she dropped it by next time another child in our neighborhood lost a tooth. Ahh, the things we do to preserve the magic!:wizard:
