Japan was hit by a massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake at 2.46pm local time (0546 GMT) causing a tsunami to crash into Tokyo, including the Tokyo Disney Resort. News reports have shown that the Tokyo Disney Sea park is currently flooded.

Japanese television showed cars, ships and even buildings being swept away by a vast wall of water after the 8.9-magnitude earthquake.

The quake has sparked fires in several areas including Tokyo, and numerous casualties are feared.

Seismologists say it is one of the largest earthquakes to hit Japan for many years.

Pictures from the Tokyo Disney Resort have started to appear on the interent and I have posted a few on the Salon Mickey Blog.

Reports indicate that both Tokyo Dinseyland and the Tokyo Disney Sea parks have been closed and that all Guests and Cast Members have been evacuated

 My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the earthquake in Japan

Sky News are saying that the car park at Disney Tokyo has been 'obliterated', and Disneysea is now flooded. Hope all the families are safe x

This is such a horrendous and tragic situation. Our thoughts go out to all of those poor people affected by this devastation .. it is beyond imagination what some people have to go through. :sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

Also thinking of all of my friend who live in Western USA coastal areas as they are no issuing warnings for these areas. Stay safe and take care :hug:

My thoughts are with everyone in Japan at this awful time. My brother and his family live there and they are all ok, thankfully.

We are also thinking of everyone that is caught up in this terrible event. I was watching it on TV before I came out to work this morning and the Tsunami looks awful. They are issuing severe warnings for many countries now. :sad1:

The scenes of deverstation are shocking. The Tsunami warnings are now in place for the Pacific until tomorrow when it will hit the Western US.
Speaking to a Mum at school who is from Hawaii, she spoke to her brother this morning who has been told to expect the Tsunami at approx 1pm (our time) she looked awful, felt so sorry for her.

Such terrible news - and there's only a limited amount you can do to prepare for something like this! My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected:angel:

Park Management has confrimed that 69,000 Tokyo Disneyland Resort guests are camping out in the resort over-night after transportation in Tokyo was suspended.

Park guests have been evacuated to safe areas of resort to shelter over-night and have been provided with disposable heaters, plastic bags, and rain coats.

It has also been confirmed that no injuries were reported at the resort.

Sad news, not caught much of it, had other issues close to home, but my thoughts go out to all affected.

Ive just had the day from hell. My daughter is in Japan on a study year for her uni course. I woke this morning to see my FB page covered with concerned messages and went into a blind panic as I hadnt a clue what had happened.
Fortunately she is safe and well, but I still feel guilt at that sigh of relief I gave for her when so many poor souls have been lost and there has been much tragedy. Luckily I was able to Skype her and she was fine. She was in Disneyland just a few days ago and was saying that it is such a busy time of year as it is Spring Break. The parks were packed and it took her over two hours to get on to most rides. She visited Disneyland and Disney Sea. She was saying that the parks are by the coast so it was no wonder they were flooded. I believe there was no loss of life there, but there were 94,000 people trapped within the park.
I am still very worried for her as the nuclear reactors could be a problem in the coming days. It has been a very difficult day for the family.
