OT: Thoughts/prayers please

[Minnesota]

Some of you may already know as the news has reached national level. A major bridge in downtown Minneapolis right next to the University of Minnesota has collapsed. the ENTIRE bridge from end to end is in the Mississippi River. As a Minnesotan and U of M system student I ask for thoughts and or prayers for the families and people involved in that. News is sketchy right now but my sister is a Deputy sheriff and is on duty right now and has let us know a few details she is hearing. I kow this has nothing to do with disney but I am hoping none of our fellow DISers were involved, I have met several from Minnesota. No matter your beliefs please keep these people in your thoughts.

What a horrible tragedy. Our prayers are with you. My sister passed under that bridge about 5 minutes prior. She could have easily been there, but had an angel looking out for her.

A few DIS'ers live around this area.

Great idea asking for prayers, because lots of people are needing them tonight.

Terrible news.
My husband is watching the news and I'm thinking to myself here I am on the dis boards excited about my up coming trip and these poor people are going through this terrible tragedy.

Updates from Minnesota. So far only 1 confirmed fatality but keep our rescue workers and the families in your thoughts and prayers. Some regular citizens became heros today by pulling children from a bus and people from the river.

Wow, how horrible! I just saw this on the news. Praying for the victims, the survivors and the families involved. And God Bless the heroes!

Hi again,
I just heard from my sister, (the deputy), 41 wounded 6 of whom were killed, one by drowning. What a terrible thing. I have two friends one who crossed that bridge at 5:40, 20 minutes before it went down and another who crossed under on end about 5 minutes before. Talk about scary.

My eldest child will be going off to the U of M in a few weeks as an incoming freshman (and you can imagine how many times we've been over that bridge as we have visited the campus, and for many other things over the years) and a week after we send him off, my DD and I will be joining the rest of our family for a huge WDW trip. (I haven't been since the kids were small; now they're 18 and 16.)

So I have a lot of Bridge AND Dis in my mind right now!

Insane to say the least. So close to home and unbelieveable.

I can say that things like this bring out the best in people. Many of them injuried themself worked to save and help people right after the accident.
