OT - Thoughts on Sesame Place?

I never have found Sesame Place to be dirty. My kids love it! Actually I used to work there (I was Elmo during the "Tickle-me-Elmo" craze ooh the nightmares!! lol One time the had me go up to the gate before it was opened....when the gate opened my life FLASHED before my eyes :lmao: I grew up 5 mins from sesame and now I live 25 mins away! I love it. My kids love it! Best advice though if you can pack a lunch cause food prices are crazy there. It is more water than dry rides there is a Dumbo like ride, a roller coaster (36" & 3) that is much like Goofy's barnstormer, a bouncy bed, nets, a carousel, a ride like they have a dutch that goes up and down the frogger I think, and others. They are building a new water part that looks pretty cool kind of like the water part at Dutch.

If you want help trying to pick a good hotel feel free to PM there are many that have Sesame Place/hotel rates some have shuttles some do not (shuttle might be nice cause parking I believe in general is 15 and preferred is 18). Let me know

Thanks for all the info.! How funny that you were Elmo! I bet you have tons of stories about that :lmao:

After reading everyone's posts, I think a good plan of attack might be to drive down the night before so we can be at SP when it opens. And to go on a weekday, bring food for lunch, and keep an eye out for bigger kids.

Thanks everyone! If we do go, I'll be sure to post about my experience, good or bad.

Oh... I also want to vote for Dutch Wonderland and Hershey park. Another GREAT family park is Knoebels in Elysburgh, PA! This is such a great family park with rides for all ages, good park food, lots of shade, a campground or cabins onsite, and a water park area. I highly reccommend it:)

I totally agree!!! My family loves Knoebels, we go twice a year camping at their campground. We go for Memorial Day weekend and in October for the covered bridge festival. It is a very clean and family friendly park. Parents do not have to pay to walk around with their kids and they still use good old fashion tickets! The rides are fairly cheap, the kiddie rides are mostly 70 cents and the roller coasters are no more than $2.00. The tickets come in books of $10.00 and $20.00. If you purchase $110.00 worth of tickets, you get $10.00 worth free. We usually purchase that many and split them between the two weekends that we go, we have two daughters, 5 & 10, and we have plenty of tickets by doing that.

As far as Sesame Place, my friend works for AAA and we go every year when they have their AAA days and we get an excellent discount. I would not pay full price to go though. The park does tend to get crowded and there is not really much to do besides the water stuff.

We also love Hershey, but have only been there at Christmas because it is cheaper. I do see the resemblance that it is a mini replica of the Magic Kingdom. We have alot of fun there too!!!

We went to Sesame Place the end of May 2007, during the week...I think it was a Wed. Had a blast! My ds just turned 3 and dd was almost 6. I got our tickets thru eBay and saved ALOT of $$! I found the place to be very nice and clean. It was not crowded and we got to see every show we wanted to (dd was even called to participate in the Elmo's World Show), we got lots of character pics, and the kids even had time to play in the water park area. The park closed @ 5p and they basically had to kick us out b/c ds would not stop going down the water slide :rotfl:

Another great alternative is The GReat Wolf! We have one that opened about 7 miles from us within the last 2 yrs and it is AWESOME. DS was 4 the first time we went there and went ninety-to-nothing in the kids area of the water park....absolutely loved it. The nice thing about that, is there is fun for all ages in the water park area, where Sesame Place is basically for kids.

Like I noted above, my ds is very excited about our upcoming trip to WDW but he keeps asking "When are we going back to Elmo's world?"! So, I don't think you could do wrong with either one.

GOod luck in deciding and have fun
