DH has a business trip in February in Greenville, SC. I would like him to plan it over the 4 day weekend the kids have so we can go with him. I have not totally convinced him yet, but the gas and hotel would be free. His company would pay for his food, so we would just have to pay for food for me and the kids. So I need to know what there is to do there!!! I have to give him ideas of what we could do while he is working!!!

Thanks so much for your help!!! I would love to get out of the snow, even if it is just for a few days!!

There is a zoo, children's museum, and a short drive to lots of hiking trails with waterfalls and the mountains. We have nice state parks in SC that are fairly cheap to get in and they offer various activities...canoeing, horseback riding, etc. I am not so sure Greenville is a major tourist draw but the surrounding mountain towns are and Greenville is a lovely city. Our temps are generally mild but it can be pretty cold in Feb. so that could dictate what you may want to do.

Frankie Fun House is an awesome Arcade if its still there... I lived there years ago. Go to Fatz Cafe one day for lunch or dinner it is so good. There are also lots of shopping... even outlets pretty close. :goodvibes We went to a park one year with a nice trail, I think it was called Flat Rock or Pinic Rock sorry it has been so long but I miss it everyone and everything was so nice there. :lovestruc

My dd attends Furman University....an absolutely beautiful campus. Go, walk around the lake, visit the gardens, have lunch there. Very often there are free (or low cost) music events to attend.

Definitely visit the downtown park with the waterfall. You can also drive up to Paris Mountain state park.

Sounds like a great family adventure!

I think you are thinking of Table Rock State Park.

If the weather is nice visit the Reedy River Park. It's in Greenville, and is lovely. I second the motion on Frankie's Fun Park!! I grew up just outside of Columbia, SC and we had one there. It was awesome. While I have to drive by Greenville on my way "home" to visit, they have built a toll road that cuts through the southern part of the county and I don't pass the exit with Frankie's anymore, so I don't know if it is still open.

Definitely go eat at the Beacon Drive-in in Spartanburg.. not far from Greenville. It's an institution, and was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network. I live close to the border with SC and commercials used to run our cable system for a safari park called Hollywild. It sounded like a neat place. I don't think it is in Greenville, but it is some where in the upstate, and is probably not too far from Greenville.

If you're feeling really froggy, Columbia is just over an hour from Greenville and has a wonderful zoo.
