OT - Textbooks...help??

Hello College Board. I am returning to school to work on a 2nd degree. It's been 15 years since I was last in college and my mom was paying for things back then. LOL I can't believe the price of textbooks!!! Does anyone have any favorite websites for good deals on college textbooks? I appreciate your help!

Usually I look for used books either from the Amazon.com marketplace, Half.com, or Ebay. There isn't really any one website that has the best prices, you kind of have to shop around for books that sound like they're in decent condition and have a good price. However, last semester I used a website called Chegg.com. You can rent your books from them for a semester, quarter, or longer for about half the price of the new textbook. It worked out really well for me. They're in good condition and when you're finished with them you pack them up, put the return address sticker on the box (you don't have to pay shipping back), and send them back to Chegg. It's a great way to save money but sometimes it is cheaper to just buy the books used so like I said, you have to check around for prices.

Half.com or i use a shopping app on my phone. My school just started offering rentals however i would NEVER rent a book.You can usually find books online for cheaper then renting them.Plus if you rent them you never have the option of selling them and you are out the money you used to rent them. One of my books next semester is $180 new $109 used at the bookstore renting from chegg.com is $60 and on half.com for a new (what they describe as new) is $45. Also you can useally resell your books for A LOT more online then what you would get at your schools bookstore.

I second all of these options. I get many things from Amazon and Ebay. And I used Chegg once for a book that was super expensive and I knew I wouldn't use again- it worked out really well.

My rule is only to rent textbooks when you can't find it anywhere else online (new or used) at a cheaper price. In the end it'll save you money because you never get back the full price you paid when selling books back.

abebooks.com and ecampus.com are good as well -- I checked these, ebay, half.com, and amazon.com before buying my books for last semester. They were a big help!

I use the same resources as most here. I loved Chegg this semester. It was a class that is only taught once a year and by next year, a new edition will be out. Renting for $20 way better than buying for $70
