The tax guide says that electronically filed returns CAN be processed in as little as 8 BUSINESS days, but to wait 4 wks before calling for status (and all they could really say is "yes it's processed" or "no, it's not processed")
And that paper returns usually take 4-6 weeks.
But they say "usually" so these are only general guidelines, not guarantees--it could take longer.
But now they have this thing called Quick Access on their website, which you can check much quicker than calling in.
Last year I signed up thru their website for "My Account" (they had a 2step registration process, so it took a week to activate) and changed my bank info that way--it changed in their system right away (I called to check), and then I netfiled it. (I think if you file the return then change the bank acct info after, it might not "take" for that return's refund....something to do with timing, especially on those electronically filed returns.
Seems like I read somewhere (CBC website?) that more and more people are using software to prepare and file returns.
