I've been looking for tart tins for my MIL. They look like muffin tins but are shallower. She makes a mean butter tart and after 50 years of making them has decided she needs new pans. I haven't been able to find them. I went to a baker supply store and they showed me individual ones. She doesn't really want the individual ones. Has anyone seen tart tins on their travels and if so where? Thanks.

Are you looking for individual sized ones, but all in one pan similar to muffin pans? Or the large tart pans? Check Home Outfitters, they sell the large ones with the removable bottom made by Paderno. Or I guess you can just check out a Paderno store. As to the small size, I've only seen them individually.

oh yummy butter tarts........

My Mom used to make the bestest butter tarts in the world. She passed away a few years ago and yesterday I looked up her receipe to make some.

She lists the ingredients and quantities until it gets to raisins. That's all it says - Raisins.

I tried to make some yesterday and I guess I didn't get it right. They are tasty but so juicy that they squirt and are very, very sticky.

Oh well, the thought was there.

Go to a flea market- that's where I bought all of mine! You might also want to check out Loblaws. I was in there recently and they have come out with a new line of muffin/tart tins.

I use my muffin tin for tarts-when I make them. Check Canadian Tire, too. I'm pretty sure that that was where we got ours when I did buy them. Real Canadian might have them. Good luck on your search. Mom's butter tarts....mmmmm. (but straight to my hips!)

Maryann, my Mom is looking for a replacement pan for her lemon tarts. She cannot find the size she has used for 50 years. Are they smaller than regular tarts?

I have never found them in all of my looking. Buter tarts are one of my signature desserts. I make tarlets in mini-muffin pans and full-sized in standard muffin pans, though I rarely make the full-sozed because they're a little big. If I come accross any I'll try to message you.

I've looked in every store that I have gone into in the last month. Metro, Loblaws, Canadian Tire, Zellers, Kitchen Stuff Plus, Walmart and a Bakers Supply store. I don't think people make tarts anymore. The tart tins I'm looking for look similar to muffin tins, 6 or 12, in one tin but shallower than muffin tins. I'll keep looking. Next place I'll look is the St. Lawrence Market, after that I'll try St. Jacob's market. Thanks to everyone for helping.
Happy New Year.

I got 2 great pans for .50 cents each at my local Salvation Army. I swear the older pans you can't find anymore in the stores are all there!

You could try Williams and Sonoma, they have a lot of unique items. I have a set of 3 inch tart tin (not a pan, individual tins). I also have a set of tart tins that the bottom drops out of that starts at 3 inches and goes up to 10 inches. I am a chef and got both sets while I was at school. I cannot remember where I got them but it was probably at a restaurant supply store or at school itself. You could try your local college with a culinary program.

ETA - Sorry I just noticed she doesn't want individual pans. I stand by my advise to check out your local college you may get lucky.
