I had this great idea to surprise my dh with a trip to Chicago including tickets to his favorite team-the Cubs! Interestingly enough that is what a lot of other people do on Fathers Days also!! I really want to pull this off, but I'm not really baseball saavy, and I have no idea what I'm doing!! Here are my issues:
1. For all you Wrigley Field enthusiasts out there, where should we sit, and not pay too much? I saw tickets on ebay for $1,250.00 and I think that is a tiny bit out of our price range! :lmao: I printed out a "map" of the field but you never know how it is until you get there ( maybe behind a pole!) I am the type who would get "taken" on this sort of thing! I think $200 -MAYBE $300 would be more like it.
2. I want to take the Amtrak train up, and I'm not familiar with it at all. Do they have better deals last minute or farther away? They have kids 1/2 price, but it looks like that's standard. We can drive up but I think it would be neat to take the train, we have never done that before.

I am willing to pay $ for this but I don't want to have to work overtime for the rest of the year to PAY for it!! :teeth: My dh is a great husband and father and this would be a tremendous surprise, so hopefully with your help I can find decent tickets, and get it all together! :sunny:
TIA

Thanks,
I'd rather not sit in the bleachers! I don't think my kids would appreciate that behavior! :smokin: party: :drinking1

Exactly...bleachers are not for kids ;) I also would not take children to a Cubs/Cards game...but I think the one you want is the Tigers..good luck with it all!

Just curious- why not a cubs/cards game? You mean at Wrigley or otherwise?
:confused3
We actually live 1&1/2 hours away from St. Louis, so the rest of my dh's family are Cards fan's, except for 1 brother ( so that's where he got it from!) ;) For as much as I get into baseball I'm flexible, but it's kind of fun if we do go to a game in St. Louis and my kids are wearing Cardinal jerseys and my dh is wearing a Cubs jersey :rotfl:

I have no idea how it would be in St Louis, but here in Chicago the fans are really bad...lots of yelling (bad stuff) and :drinking1 .

Your poor DH..he must get tons of abuse from his family. I personally am a White Sox fan and my little brother is Cubs boy...but I do like going to the games and I hope they do well, not as well as the Sox but well enough.

You know you all can also maybe do a tour of Wrigley-but they only do them on days when the cubs are out of town.

I've only been to one game in my adult life in St. Louis, and I don't think it was VERY bad , but I realize that's not saying much!
He does take a lot of flak, especially around here where you are just "supposed" to be a Cards fan.

I think a tour of Wrigley would be neat. :thumbsup2
Thanks for your help!! :goodvibes I know it will come together, and I'm excited for the day when we get to surprise him!!
