I am the type of parent who likes to teach their child when they are at home. She will be going into a half day 1st grade\ half 2nd grade (Reading, Math) and I am trying to think of all the stuff that would be both appropriate and fun to teach her this summer.
I am not worried about reading (at all- she never puts down any book, I have to pry them from her fingers) Math we are working with simple fractions and refocusing on money and time (she knew these but I think not working with them this year made her rusty).
So that leaves Social Studies and Science. What is appropriate? I was thinking water cycle, weather, plants, enviroments, animals? But I am so not sure about Social Studies? Should we do maps? History? (How to do History is a question in itself) What?
So what are you teaching your children over the summer?
