Looking for a good price on a good hotel in Banff at end of April. DW is going on business and we are adding on an adult only ski weekend after wards.

Been checking hotels.ca and other online sites looking for sales but so far not sure on what. Don't want too noisy or too expensive.

We've stayed at the Rimrock (doesn't likely meet your 'not expensive' criteria) and http://www.banffhighcountryinn.com/ . The high country inn is decently priced and has a continental breakfast in the morning. They have mini suites for reasonable prices, too. We've gone to Banff for conferences and booked our own accomodations - when co workers visited us, they switched to the High Country Inn. It's not fancy, but it's clean and decently staffed.

I'd also recommend the restaurant that is attached to this hotel - Ticino's, and The Grizzly House restaurant. Make reservations at Grizzly House though.

We've stayed at the Banff Bow view Lodge before for ministry conferences - very reasonably priced and very very clean - they share a pool with the larger, more expensive Banff Park Lodge next door but it's a quick walk across the parking lot. :thumbsup2

We've stayed at the Delta twice and loved it. The rooms were nice and spotless but it's a bit of a walk to get into town. The High Country Inn was nice...especially the pool and free breakfast. It's very centrally located too.

We got an amazing deal at the Fairmont this year so we're staying there in June. Keep checking hotels.ca and hopefully some good deals will pop up.

I like the Banff International - it is very close to Downtown. I have stayed there several times on ski vacations!

Banff and cheap just don't co-exist. The Fox is my fav, the Rimrock and the Fairmont Banff Springs. For family fun the Douglas Fir Chalets are a great value.:thumbsup2

If it's skiing you're after, more so than Banff itself, consider the Delta Kananaskis. Nice hotel - almost comparable, in my opinion, to the Rimrock, but not priced as high. Very remote though - they have shuttles to Banff/ the airport/ the ski hill, but not much more at the site than the hotel. Nice indoor/ outdoor hot tub, several nice restaurants, a lot of outdoor activities, nice big fireplace in the lobby.

Heard good things about the Fox and was thinking about the Delta. Will check out the High Country Inn.

Sadly the Rimrock and Fairmount are a litlle pricey.

Anybody stay at Charlton's Ceadar Court?

We have done Banff area in the summer a couple times now and we always stay in Canmore (Four Points Sheraton - underground parking, ski storage and laundry available). Canmore is not far from Banff itself, has lots of accomodations available as well as a few nice restaurants which were less expensive than Banff. Just another option for you to consider. If you have a car available, I would really consider Canmore.

I used to ski race a lot as a kid and was in Banff practically every weekend in the winter. The Ptarmagin Inn is one of my faves and VERY close to the action in Banff. I'm also a fan of the Banff Caribou Lodge, it's a little further away than the Ptarmagin Inn but still not a bad walk. These two hotels are quite a bit cheaper than the Rimrock and Banff Springs plus they're much closer to the heart of Banff. The Caribou Lodge also has "The Keg" restaurant attached to it which is nice as well. There are a TON of hotels in the area and I personally like these two. If you have any other hotels that you'd like to know about feel free to ask as I've likely stayed there or know about the hotel.

ETA: Canmore is also very nice. It is only 15 minutes from Banff and a little more quiet. I know a couple good places to stay there as well but would have to look them up.

We have just moved back to Alberta after being away for 14 years and have spent the winter checking out different hotels in the area and skiing. Our favorite many years ago was Buffalo Mountain Lodge and it still remains that way. You can not beat the location and the wood burning fireplaces are lovely after a hard day of skiing. The restaurant on site is wonderful and a nice outdoor hot tub soaks away all the aches and pains. We stayed at High Country Inn and I would never go back. Rooms were dated, breakfast was very unappealing and very noisy both in hallsways and on the street. If you want something similair I'd go with Siding 29 which is comparable in price and includes breakfast.
