This will sound mean, but it is effective. Hold him down on his back, hold his nose, and use the oral syringe to get the medicine as far back in his mouth as possible. He will have to swallow to breathe.
This is what they taught us at CHOP (Childrens Hosp of Phila.) when we had to give my DD caffeine when she was a few weeks old. You have to kind of shoot it back in the corner of their mouths. The stuff was terrible tasting, and she'd always try to spit it out, but this worked. Hope this helps you!
