Has anyone stayed here in the last year?
I have booked a summer vaca here, and am starting to worry about the choice. Saw several less than stellar reviews, mostly that the resort has gone down hill over last few years. I am sure it is no GF, but am always looking for someplace clean with a friendly, dependable staff.
Am posting on multiple boards, but any input would be appreciated.

We stayed there last January. I thought the accommodations were just fine. We had cold weather but I would imagine that the main pool would be pretty crowded on a warm day. We had no issues.

Is there a Disney resort you could compare it too, or at least a category...value, moderate or deluxe. We usually stay at GF, but have stayed at Poly, Beach Club (several years ago) & wilderness lodge
Thanks !!

I'd probably compare it to a deluxe DVC. Doesn't have the Disney Magic so it's hard to translate. Love Captiva and Sanibel. Lots of good restaurants

I was last at South Seas about 4 years ago. It is prime location on such a quaint, high class island. The accommodations are very spread out. The housekeeping wasn't great. The pool area is gorgeous. Shelling is fabulous. The dolphin cruise was enjoyable, manatees in the dock seasonally. A truly relaxing vacation. My grandparents have a summer home across the bridge in Fort Myers so we've been vacationing in the area my whole life. Not sure if the ratings have decreased recently; at least prior it's always been considered a deluxe resort.

I decided to opt out of the resort. I could get the deposit back. I was too nervous about the actual villa and the cleanliness, so now we are staying at Hyatt Coconut Pointe in Bonita Springs. While it is not gulf front, it is a 4star resort with nice pool, housekeeping daily :thumbsup2, can take resort transportation to Coconut Plantation for lazy river and slide pool fun, and a boat to beach.
Might drive over to Captiva, just to check it out & eat at Bubble Room.
Thanks for the insight. I think the gulf is going to be a fantastic vacation. :cool2::cool2:
