OT: So You Think You Can Dance Canada

OK, so I thought we needed a thread to discuss SYTYCDC ( ). I really enjoyed watching the American version and find myself getting sucked into the Canadian offering as well! I think there are a few really good dancers on there. I am not at the point yet where I remember anyone's name, but I can say that I was surprised by the first guy they voted off (and obviously he was shocked as well!). I will be watching tonight to see who goes home. I think there are a few that just aren't on par with the top 10 or so, and once we get to top 10 we'll have a real race on our hands. I can comment on the judges though - generally speaking I find them fairly useless so far - I prefer more constructive criticism, so we'll have to see if they improve. I like Jean-Marc and sometimes the lady but find the other 2 - the guy from the American version and the 'hip hop' guy to be fairly useless. Also, the host is awful in my opinion - just annoying! Anyway, thought I would see if others are watching and what your thoughts are.

I would definitely consider myself a SYTYCD addict! Watchig the Canadian version, too. Last night I thought the first 4 couples really outshone the others. Tamina (girl from "Crocodile Rock") and Izaak (guy form the Raggae dance hall number) need to go home. They stood out last night as not on par with the others.

Love the show, but have been waiting to watch in on the weekends for the replay - it conflicts with another show we watch, so I usually watch in the kitchen while I'm cooking on the weekends. I love that Jean-Marc is on the show! I'm really enjoying it too.

OK - need some help - I thought the results would be on last night?? Isn't it dance on Wed, results on Thurs?

So I went to the website and yes, it was on last night at 7:30pm. I really really was looking, so I guess my brain is just not functioning!!! Does anyone know what channel it is using Rogers?? Sorry to be dense, but I usually just scan the online 'guide' looking for the name and just didn't see it last night?? I feel really dumb LOL

Hee Hee Dutchmom that is me too, I have no clue what channel it is on...oh hang on isn't it on CTV????? I have bell (well for 2 more weeks then switched to Rogers) so can't help with the number of the channel it is on....wasnt' life so much easier when we were kids?

Yes, it's on CTV, and on Much Music all weekend. They replay it quite a bit.
I love the show too, so glad the dancers are just as good as the US version. I am not a fan of the judges, but maybe we'll have more guest judges as the show goes on.

I'm not sure which guy you are referring to as the 'hip hop' guy but I'll guess that it's Blake McGrath.....he was the choreography teacher during the auditions. He's from Mississauga and SUPER talented.

My family has been involved in dance for the last 15 years and we are all LOVING the show. It has been really fun to watch people that you know on TV.

I'm love watching SYTYCD - last season for the US version, I started watching it at Eastern time (I'm in BC) so DD6 could watch with me. Now with the Canadian version, I had to add channels to my Cable so I could get it at different times to watch with DD6 and DD3.

I find Blake McGrath can be very annoying and rude! He talks over the other judges. If the lady judge says something he disagrees with he keeps saying no way and blah blah blah. I just want to smack him - you've had your turn, let her speak her opinion now!

Does anybody know if they are going to have any guest judges?

I think the host needs some experience to improve. I don't like how she over-sympathizes with the dancers when they get voted out. I also don't like how she keeps doing the fake out when she's announcing who's in the bottom, and it takes her so long.
The US one, at least makes her comments and then opens a result card each time she says if somebody is in or out. The Canadian one opens the result card and then does all her talking and gives the results for all the ones she has on stage at that point. I keep thinking "quit drawing it out, you're already looking at the results, so just spit it out".

Overall I'm enjoying the dancers. I really like Niko and Arassay (Mohawk guy, wore wings this week).
I really disagreed with the girl the judges sent home this week. I understand why they sent that guy home - he's fantastic at his style, but he was the weakest of the bottom 3 for doing other styles.

Sorry for the huge post - I just love the show and had to throw some comments out there.

Good luck to Isaac from my home town! I don't think he'll make it, but he's very young and has great potential. Hopefully he'll learn lots and make the most of the opportunity.
