OT: Shelf Life of Sealed Gevalia Coffee

I purchased the Gevalia coffeemaker for my FIL for Christmas, when the ordering info was on this board in Feb. Along with that, I ordered him a variety of coffee flavors to go with it. Now, I'm starting to worry that the coffee will be stale, when he opens it. How long will it stay fresh sealed in original packaging? TIA

Just love that Gevalia coffee. Those packages of coffee are vacuum sealed, so I wouldn't think that there would be any problem. What a great present! If you are afraid of its freshness, you could always send them to me and I'd be happy to sample them for you. Just kidding. Gevalia is the coffee DH and I will be taking to Disney with us so we don't have to deal with the "other" coffee that seems to be so prevalent there.

It will last a few months. I order it regularly and one time over ordered and had the coffee for months. It is vaccuum sealed - you can hear the air when you open it. It should be fine. What a great gift!

Thanks for the input. I hope he'll enjoy it! I don't drink coffee & my DH usually has instant. It would be really embarrassing, if my FIL opened it & it wasn't fresh. It's not like I'd know the difference. I'm glad to hear it should be fine.

You can also place it, sealed, in the freezer and it will keep longer.

I've been buying Gevalia off and on for a long time. I just used a pkg from the back of my cupboard that had been there for a couple of YEARS at least, and it was fine! Their packaging really keeps the coffee fresh.

LOL!!! That sounds like something I'd do. I feel much better knowing it was fresh after that long.
