I've found a reputable photographer who charges $200 for 2 hours worth of photos (indoors, outdoors, change of clothes, etc.) Basically, she takes as many photos as possible within 2 hours.

She then edits the photos, puts them on a disc and they are then ours to print as we want.

My question: anyone ever done pics like this? If so, where did you have them printed? I'm thinking Ritz Camera, but am not sure. I want them to look like they came out of a photo studio (without spending a small fortune)!!!

My husband has a higher-end camera and we do this all the time with our kids instead of going to a studio. We print ours at Shutterfly.com with a matte finish and they look awesome! We did a family picture for us and an extended family picture with DH's family and had them printed on 20x30 canvas and that looks great too!

Good luck!

Professional Photographer here - I send my clients that opt for the disc to mpix.com. They are the comsumer division of a professional lab and use pro paper. It's also easy to order prints without color-correction. (I spend hours editing the pictures, including color correction. If you let the lab printing color correct, esp a lab I don't use, I can NOT guarantee the outcome.)

We did a resort photo shoot last year and did extra shots for our twin's senior photos. We printed them through National or Nations) Photo lab online they were wonderful. great professional wallets, you can even add text to the pics like (Name '10) I found them by Googling professional photo printing. BTW what a great deal on senior photos. We could only find studios - $400 and up for small package.
Just checked, It's Nations Photo Lab. good luck

That's a good point and something I forgot to mention...we have "VividPics" shut off on our Shutterfly account so there is no color correcting. We do all the editing of the pictures ourselves. Quick call to Customer Service to shut it off and we have always been happy with the results.

I also recommend mpix.com If you don't want to do it online and want them right away I've found that Costco is good.

That is really cheap for a 2 hr shoot and all the pics on a CD to print... WOW !! I also recommend Mpix.com Their prints are gorgeous and they stand behind all of their work. they also ship quickly and respond to any questions or problems quickly. I have all of my clients print their pictures there, it is the only site that I use to print my pictures.

(I am a photographer too, in my spare time.)

Yes. That is a GREAT price for the pix and the CD. (Are you sure it includes the price of the CD with copyright???) We paid double that AND we only got to pick our 10 favorite shots.

We got ours printed at mpix.com and are VERY happy. I got a big 16x24 mounted on foamboard with a protective coating and it is really nice. I got the big picture plus about 24 8x10s and it was only around $75 for all of it at mpix.

Another photographer here w/a vote for mpix. I agree that it's the best consumer lab for professional prints. Great deal if it's a good photographer!

The following is taken directly from the photographer's website:

"Each sitting fee includes as many pictures taken in allotted time period, editing, retouching and digitally enhancing all images and placing images on a disk for your use."

"High School Senior Portraits
Sitting Fee: $200.00 **
Includes two hours, two outside locations and one inside location with backdrops. Unlimited change of clothes within allotted time period.
** Every 1/2 hour after second hour add $25.00"

Sounds like a great deal to me as well! Thanks for the help.
