The mumbler comment was funny.

My only complaint about the movie is that they used the same oompa loompa for the entire production.

Certain movies just shouldn't be remade. And with a thousand salvos to Mr. Depp's ability to light up any movie screen, it just wasn't the same.

Gene Wilder is Willie Wonka and always will be. Guess I'm just too old to accept change.

Let me start by saying that I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE Johnny Depp fan. LOVE him.

Also....I was totally freaked out by the original Willy Wonka movie...I swear it creeped me out as a kid and I still get a bit weirded out watching it. Strangely my 5 year old also finds the original disturbing . Not sure what's with us as so many people love that film. Anyway, I digress....

We saw Charlie tonight with two 8 year olds and my 5 year old DD. We all loved it!!!! I wasn't looking forward to this movie (see above)....and I was turned off by Johnny in the previews. But....once in the movie it is hilarious! I love the reference to Edward Scissorhands (one of my FAVE movies)...in the pose JD strikes. I thought the movie was funny and my kids laughed their butts off! They all want to see it again .

I am glad you liked it!! I just saw the Wilder one yesterday & I was totally creeped out!!! The new version is funny & silly. I can't wait to see it again!!!

Took my DD10 and her friend to see it last week. I was also creeped out by pics of JD as Willie beforehand. But he was great. He really is such a good actor. This one really stayed closely to the book.
The 2 girls really liked the movie as well. Not a lot of people in the theatre laughed out loud. A lot of times I was the only one doing so.
I use the Mumbler line on my husband now, it drives him crazy.
That little Charlie was adorable. Violets mother was hilarious, especially when they were doing Violets interview, she just stood there staring blankly, her eyes all glazed over, I was rolling .
