Where do yall get kids pescription sunglasses??? My DS6 needs them and I am having the hardest time finding them!! Any help would be wonderful!!!!:goodvibes

Our children's hospital has an optical lab in conjunction with it's ophthalmology department. They offer children's glasses (and sunglasses) in a wide range of sizes. My DS got glasses when he was under a year old. That was on the only place we could find glasses for him. You might call your local children's hospital and ask if they have something similar.

(My DS is 7 now... and he prefers the clip on (magnetic) sunglasses. They only come with certain frames though.)

I used to work for an optical company and you can go online and order Rx sunglass frames and take them to your local optical place, you can also buy most any pair of frames that hold regular Rx's in them and they can have polarized lenses put in them if you want or even if you have an old pair of glasses you can buy the regular Rx lenses and have them tinted there are several options<---as long as the lenses are not polycarbonate they can be tinted. Your best bet would be to go to a "Big Box" retailer and have them because it will be much easier on your wallet and not sure how old your child is but there is always that "will they loose them factor" Hope this helps!

??? :confused3
The same place I get the regular Rx glasses.

Actually, this time I decided to get the lenses that change ~ it was slightly less expensive than two pairs and more convenient.

Did you check with his optometrist? They can make any glasses with tinted lenses.

Or try http://zennioptical.com, very inexpensive and they have kids frames.

Sometimes you can buy regular sunglasses and have your optometrist make lenses to fit, but I'm not sure of the criteria.

Thank Yall for your info!! Yeah, I know I can get the regular frames with the sunglass lenses, but I wanted them to look like sunglasses. I never thought of checking the children's hospital...good idea. I am somewhat scared of buying from the internet for glasses...We don't wear them and this is new..They told me that the lenses that switches doesn't work in the backseat of the car???? Thank yall:)

I have bought my kiddos the "after market" clip-on sunglasses. Our dr. even carries clip-ons for kids. They are a lot cheaper than buy 2 pairs of glasses for my kids.

I get them at Wal-Mart in the optical center.

Our office has glasses with the clip on sunglasses, and they have seperate sunglasses that can be ordered. I went ahead and had his the transitions put on his lenses so they change to sunglasses when he goes outside. I had them done in his sport frames too, since some of his baseball games are in in the daytime.

I have no idea what they mean about the lenses not working in the back seat of a car. :confused3

My son is 4 years old and has had glasses since he was 2 1/2 y/o. At first we just bought the clip-on lenses to put on his glasses when we go outside, but now that he's in pre-k I decided to buy the transition lenses and they've worked great! Transition lenses of today are way better than transition lenses of the past. We always buy our glasses locally because even with flexible frames you'll find your child will bend the glasses (flexibles can still get bent at the corners, causing the sides to fan out) and they'll need to re-shape them for you. Make sure to buy glasses from a place that is used to working with children and doesn't have a problem with you going in to have them re-shaped periodically. Also, the frames I bought were a little expensive, but they came with a 1 year warranty - my son broke 2 pair of glasses his first year in them, and they provided another pair free of charge. I know people who have bought cheaper at WalMart and couldn't get the frames replaced free...just something to keep in mind.
