Can anyone recommend a decent, safe and not too expensive hotel close to LAX for one night? We are leaving on an Early morning flight overseas and want to avoid the morning traffic. Also any good pointers to long term parking would be helpful.

Thanks!

There are quite a few hotels in that area, as you can imagine.

You might try:
Renaissance Hotel on Century Blvd (the street that leads to LAX)
Embassy Suites on Imperial Hwy
Courtyard by Marriott on Mariposa (about a block east of Sepulveda & maybe 2 miles from the airport)
Marriott on Rosecrans
Summerfield Suites on Douglas Ave (I'm attending a Dale Carnegie course there, and the hotel seems pretty nice - along the lines of a Residence Inn) - maybe 3 miles from the airport

I usually park in parking lot B when I need to travel for any length of time, and there is also parking lot C, which might be less expensive. Both have shuttles to the airport.

You may also want to check with the hotel where you end up staying, to see if they offer long term parking with a shuttle to the airport. Many hotels do. We've stayed overnight at a hotel the night before our flight a couple of times here in St. Louis, just to take advantage of either the free or less expensive parking the hotel provided for guests who stayed there.

We stayed there for one night last month before our flight home. It was very dirty - the jaquizzi had huge clumps of hair, our room's filter looked liked it had never been changed, and the "free" breakfast buffet was ice cold at 7:30 a.m. I was disappointed as I have never had bad luck at an Embassy Suites before. It's pretty bad when you'd rather hang out at LAX rather than your hotel room.

I am a TA and we send a lot of people to the Hacienda Hotel at LAX. The rooms are usually under $100. I have not stayed there personally but we have good responses. They have great rates for park and fly too.

The Omni is so nice and a free shuttle to price. It shows up on hotwire, I got it for like $45 when it was well over $200 on their website. It was such a nice hotel.
