OT - Reasonable hotels near Miami Port

Does anyone have any experience with cruising out of Miami? If you remember which hotel you stayed at, was it convenient, clean, reasonable??? Any tips would be welcome. Thanks.

We havnt yet, but we are in november. We booked the jw marriott marquis, its very upscale, quite expensive normally but we got a great deal for the 1 night. Its right downtown. I researched hotels to death and most cruise experienced people seem to like the intercontinental hotel, also downtown but we have never stayed there. It doesnt appear that any/many decent hotels in miami offer shuttles either to the port or from the airport so we resigned ourselves to taxis. Hope this helps you

We stayed at the Comfort inn and suites Airport North Miami on Minola Dr -- right by the airport -- that had a free shuttle from the hotel to the port (and a $10 return back to the airport after the cruise) Aug 20th this year.

It was AMAZING -- i paid $76 ALL in for a suite which included a full breakfast in the AM -- straight from their website)

They have a pool, and a bar -- the staff are great, and the rooms were spectacular. Free wifi as well.

a pic of half the room -- the couch in the right was a fold up bed as well and there is a kitchenette with Microwave, fridge and sink. Bathroom was large and clean as well -- WILL stay there the next time we cruise as well.

Have you checked out Cruisecritic.com? They will have lots of info about that sort of thing as well as your cruiseline etc. I learned everything before my cruise there. Have fun!

It's been several years now, but Days Inn has/had a Miami Airport South and Miami Airport North location. Both had airport and port shuttles. Their website's not working properly right now, but try to find that.

I stayed a few years ago at the Intercontinental which is about 1/2 mile from the port. I can't recall what I paid but did get a cheap rate through Hotwire and it's a nice hotel. There is also a Doubletree and Marriott within a mile of the port and a Holiday Inn right across from the port. I haven't stayed at any of those but it seems alot of cruisers stay at the Holiday Inn because it's so close and it's across the street from the Bayside Markeplace which has shops and restaurants.

We always stay at Extended Stay Deluxe by the Airport. Love it!! Cheap and clean and hubby approves! He's is a very picky traveller!

Avoid the Best Westerns near the airport. The last time we stayed at one there:

the massive bank of payphones were occupied by at all times by people with multiple cell phones (hmmm, I wonder what they were doing);

our meal plates were tossed at us from the far edge of the table, we never received any drinks, and our waitress yelled at us for not leaving a large enough tip;

while the minimalist bathroom might apeal to some, we prefer our showers not to be bar piping and a pair of vice grips for taps.

I looked up hotels on google search put in hotels near port of Miami. There are loads under a mile away. All the major chains. They had trip advisor ratings also. I think if you stick to one of the well known chains you can't go wrong.

Are you just coming in the night before, or staying a few nights Pre cruise? If you'll be there a couple of days it would be worth it to stay somewhere near the beach and rent a car.

We stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Airport South Blue Lagoon (http://www.hamptoninnmiamiairport.com/) or at the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell Downtown (http://www.hamptoninnmiamibrickell.com/). If we have time in the area, we stay in downtown - very nice area. If we don't, we stay by the airport and use the airport shuttle. Breakfast included and free Wi-Fi.
