OT- problems with Itunes...HELP

So this is not the first time I have itunes... but as my parents bought me a new computer for my birthday I had to download it again... I made my library with my music and podcast... but suddenly everything deletes.... this had happen to me lots of times... this is the third... and I'm getting angry... anyone help?!?!?!?1

This happened to me today as well. I was NOT happy. Then I followed some online advice and it deleted all my music.

Fortunately, it was all backed up on a separate hard drive, but it was still frustrating.

iTunes isn't being directed to the correct iTunes library. The files are there, even the playlists, just not where it is looking. If you are using Mac OSX, hold down the option key while selecting iTunes in the Dock. A window will pop up asking you to select your library. Look under your HD (probably called MAcintosh HD), then go to users>[your name]>music>itunes and look for a file named "iTunes Library." You can also look for it using "spotlight" located in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

If you have a windows machine, I'm not sure how to select the library through iTunes, but using search you can look up "iTunes library" and select the file. That should open iTunes with your library; I'm not sure if it would default to that the next rime you open iTunes again though.
