Does anyone have any experience with purchasing a Presto HP/printer that can send emails to grandparents' phones? No computer necessary. It's advertised as being easy to use, but does require a monthly subscription to Presto. My siblings want to purchase this for Mom for Mother's Day. I'm skeptical. :confused3

We got one for my Mom after my Dad passed away. She has no desire to be connected to the internet. However she belongs to a couple of groups that send notices/schedules out to notify of changes, ect. It has been very easy for her. She just walks by the printer and there is her notice. She doesn't have to do anything.

We also send her pictures. It automatically formats them for her, so again, she doesn't do anything but walk by and grab the paper.

We did not give her address out to too many people though. Paper and ink can get expensive, and she does prefer if people call!

Feel free to ask any questions.

Thank you! There are 8 of us siblings but I'm not sure if half of them would send anything. We all have a day of the week that we call Mom (plus one sister who calls all the time). I wondered how expensive this could get with ink, paper, and the monthly fee. Sounds like your Mom is happy with it!

My 92 year old grandmother has one and really likes it. It is really easy to operate - all she has to do is remember to put paper in it. I think they are really neat, especially since she can print pictures. She has 18 grandkids and 13 great grandkids and loves to get pics from us. :thumbsup2

We bought one three years ago for my parents -- of course, "non-computer users." They LOVE it. We only gave the address out to a few family members. My parents really enjoy when we e-mail a photo of our kids from something that happened that same day (Halloween costumes, Christmas stuff, school programs, athletic events, etc.). They feel like the rest of us with the current technology and instant communication. Since we live 700 miles apart, it really keeps them in touch with us (mostly the grandkids).

All they have to do is change the paper and the ink. It's about $12 per month for the Presto subscription. You can be the account administrator online for them. All you have to do is enter the addresses that are allowed to e-mail the Presto machine and set-up the time(s) of day you want Presto to check for messages. It's very easy!

This may also be a viable option for those without internet. Whether it's by choice, budget cuts, job loss, etc. Good to know those close can maintain electronic contact with them. I'm filing this in my mental filing cabinet under good information to have/know.

Thanks.
