OT...poo in tub

Hate to be the bearer of bad news- but this is how hand/foot/mouth disease is spread- fifth disease. So she could get sick- you would see a rash. Kind of looks like she got smacked in the face. But that is the risk with poopy pool or bath water. Not life threatening- just a little annoying and an antibiotic clears it up.
Well I said not life threatening but forgot to add that one is very risky for pregnant women. - more so the fetus.

Hepatitis A is also spread through a fecal-oral route, but this was her OWN poop, and if she didn't already have HepA, she wouldn't be shedding it in her stool.

The above post is a bit misleading though. Hand/foot/mouth (coxackie) and fifth's disease are both viruses and cannot be treated with antibiotics. If they are, it's most likely they cleared right up because the virus had run it's course, not because the antibiotic made it go away.

Dh has a pediatric podcast and wrote on the blog for awhile. He's done SEVERAL episodes on poop plus a couple of blog topics. He has found that the NUMBER 1 way that people find his website is some internet search for "poop." Newborn won't poop, normal color for poop in a baby, mucous in poop, blood in baby poop, baby eats poop, how much should baby poop, toddler poops 5 times a day, what does normal baby poop look like? The search terms have the word "poop" in it about 75% of the time!

We are a poop obsessed nation!

Don't worry. When DD was about a year old and still crawling she found her way to the cat's litter box (DH had forgotten to put the babygate up), fished out a piece to her liking and ate it!:scared1: I called the Dr. and they told me not to worry, she wasn't the first kid to to do this and likely wouldn't be last. While I was completely grossed out, she was fine.

Ok, you wanna hear gross....
A 4 yr old at a day care near us recently walked out of the bathroom with a used tampon in his mouth. Now THAT is BLECH!

Not having much language to express himself, he promptly reached into his pants and took some out to show her. I:

Nope, you're definitely not the only one! I've been working with preschoolers for 5 years. I could tell some more stories, but I'll spare you!!!!!:scared1:

I wouldn't worry too much...laugh about it later...my DD 15 months poops in the tub AT LEAST once a week...
Then ther was the week when oldest DD was 3...and potty training..and more than once painted her walls with poop...remember the first Christmas south park? That was her bedroom...

Well, that is for sure. When I was little, I lived with my mother on the family farm with her parents, while my father was serving in Korea, and they had a chicken house on the farm. Of course, what did I do one day, I went into the chicken house and started eating all the chicken poop I found in the chicken house.

Of course, my younger sister one upped me in the poop eating department. When my father came back from Korea, we moved off the family farm into town, where we had both my sister and a dog. And dogs do what they have to do in the fenced-in backyard. One day while he was doing his business in the backyard, with my sister present, she decided to see what it was, and picked up the fresh dog poop and started eating it.

The long story is, that both of us, survived both instances, and our now in our fifties.

Anyway, thanks for the funny stories. Of course, I'm sure they weren't funny, when they first happened, even if they are funny now.

OMG -- I think I am going to lose everything I ate today. That was totally disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I mention that that was horrifically gross!!!!

YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!!

I'm sure she'll be fine. My DS once took his diaper off in the crib after he had gone and let's just say not only did he eat it he also had a field day putting in on everything.

:lmao: My first daughter did the same thing. Poop EVERYWHERE! Face, hands, crib, walls. I think the whole neighborhood heard me scream "OH MY GOOOOOD!!!". All I could think was, how can my child think that smelly poop is as entertaining and appealing as fingerpaints.

My DH had just gotten home from taking the girls swimming at my parents' house. You would think that after 2 kids, he would be good at putting diapers on! LOL* Nope, he still stinks at it. :confused3

So I am sitting here on the computer and he puts Avery in her playpen next to me with a bottle. She was super tired. She was playing off and on and I heard a choking noise and looked down at her. :scared1:

There were little poo balls on the bottom of the playpen and she had ONE IN HER MOUTH!!!! ACK!!! (gagging again at the thought)* I picked her up and was totally grossed out (still am LOL) and ran her into the kitchen and handed her to DH yelling that she was eating poop! He wiped her mouth out with a paper towel and I was gagging and yelling to use a wipie. LMAO :rotfl:

It was so disgusting!! Her diaper was up her butt on one side so she must have pooped and totally missed her diaper. :-(* I think she still isn't clean enough yet!! LOL* Yuck!! My mother is now telling me that she gets it from me because I was the Poo Ball queen as a baby! Ugh :sad2:

:rotfl: Sometimes you need a good laugh, and you know, laughter extends your life span. Thanks for the extra yearsssss! ha ha ha:rotfl2:

my grandaughter dank tub water after she went potty in the tub before her Mom realized it and got her out....what will happen????should she call the doc????

haha funny that you said this..reminds me of the news article I read yesterday...and this was more than five days...so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

"China miners 'survived on urine'"
Two miners who escaped from a collapsed pit in Beijing ate coal and drank urine to survive, Chinese media has reported.
