OT: Picking up kids after concert in Ottawa

My DD and her friend after the Jonas Brothers concert next week. Anybody ever done this?

How the heck do you get near the place????

Is there that is close by where they can meet you? When I was a teen, my parents would ask the person who was taking the money for parking if he could just drop us off, and they would let him. Now trying to get back in was not possible, so we would take a cab to a mcdonalds that was right down the road and my dad would pick us up there.

How comfortable are you with them taking the bus? Service to/from Scotiabank Place by OC Transpo is wonderful. I take it all the time to Sens games to avoid the parking lot congestion and the hefty parking fees.

I believe the 404 can drop them off at the nearby Terry Fox Park 'n' Ride at Centrum.

How old are they and will they have a cell phone with them? Here's what I do: I have my son or daughter call me when the concert is over (I live about a 5 minute drive from the place, when there is no traffic). I start to leave home at that point. Traffic will be HORRIBLE on Palladium drive but I find this route easiest for picking up because then they don't have to cross a busy intersection. I call them on the cell phone once I reach Palladium drive. At that point, they are to leave the building and start walking East up Palladium towards Terry Fox. I stay in the right hand lane, and somewhere along there, we meet up, long before they reach Terry Fox. We usually keep the cell line open so I can talk, telling them exactly where I am, what color car or van I'm behind ect... Once I see them, I stop, using my signal lights, they jump in quick and we are on our way. Of course there is STILL lots of traffic, so it's slow going till I hit Huntmar Rd. Left on Huntmar, left on Maple Grove and back up to Terry Fox, and home.
Jonas brothers!!!!!! Wish I had tickets to that! I'm taking my 6yr old to see Walking with the Dinosaurs tomorrow evening!
