OT: Our little gripe about D23

Ok so we looked into getting silver membership a couple of months back (same as gold, just no quarterly magazine - yes I know most of you will know that, but thought I'd clarify).

Disney wanted the same postage cost (over 50 bucks) for the silver and gold membership. The real annoying thing is that the shipping to the UK costs more than the membership!

So we contacted Disney a couple of months back to ask them if it would be possible to reduce the shipping cost as the silver membership didn't include the magazine - just the membership card, pin etc.

Disney responded to say that they would 'look into it' and get back to us.

Well here we are several weeks down the line and still no response, surprise surprise. I don't think we will hear back. Their loss.

To us, it would seem to make sense to offer the membership via the UK Disney Store. Then we wouldn't have that ridiculous shipping cost. Will they listen.....well I'm not holding out any hope!

This has always been the reason why I have a rant about D23.

Disney will have to do better if they are to convince me that they care about their fans :confused3

I'm always disappointed when I hear that a company/person cannot be flexible in common sense situations.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. I haven't joined D23 either---a little gripe story of my own goes along with it.

I totally agree!

I looked into it, and the shipping costs are outrageous!

The fact I can't even get a Mickey Monitor (despite the fact I am an AP holder) meant they had no chance in getting me to sign up to a magazine. I just can't trust them to send it, and from a lot of other people's experiences with the magazine, I am glad I didn't!

It'd probably be less expensive for you to get a PO Box here in the US, have the D23 things shipped there, then pick it up when you come visit us! :goodvibes

Thanks for your thoughts and kind words Kate, Reid and Siouxi.

To be honest, my gripe extends to how we generally feel treated as international Disney fans.

I don't want to open this up to a debate about you guys get this, we dont get this and vice versa (we could go on forever) but I really would like to see D23 make a bit more effort in making the cost more appealing to international fans.
