I have some store bought pizza dough in my fridge I need to use tonight. Lately we have been grilling pizza and I think we could use a change, I'd love to hear if anyone else has other suggestions/recipes to use with pizza dough besides pizza!

Thanks :)

make doughnut holes. rolls the dough into balls. boil them in hot oil for a few minutes. sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. eat right away. It tastes like an elephant ear. they do not taste good cold.

I make garlic knots too in a pinch. What else do you have I was thinking Calzone or Stromboli too.

Ever have an Italian Spinach Pie?

Filling (well mine anyway)

1 lB frozen spinich defrosted and drained
onions (however much onion, chopped, you like, I use 1 whole)
minced garlic (I use a teaspoon)
sliced mushrooms (I use 1/2 cup)

cook the heck out of this mixture in olive oil (use liberally), until the spinach is no longer real green but sort of green, basically like mush

Roll out the dough (about 2/3 C of dough for each pie)

Stuff with spinach mixture

Add mozzarella cheese and pepperoni if desired

Bake in oven at 350 until golden brown

This is my own recipe, sorry for the lack of exactness. It may be an acquired taste for these things, but if you acquire that taste, these things are awesome.

If you have a lot of dough, these freeze nicely. And if you have leftover filling, it freezes for the next time you want the pies.

My mom makes cinnamin pizza out of lefover pizza dough. Melted butter, cinnamin and sugar...bake like a regular pizza...delish!

Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I have 10 balls of frozen pizza dough I need to do something with! My kids do not like homemade pizza and refuse to eat it.

Will they eat stromboli? My kids LOVE it!

Roll out the dough into a rectangle (make sure it is pretty thin, much thinner than you would for pizza. you want to almost "see through" the dough) and then brush lightly w/ olive oil.

Place a layer of cheese (I use provolone, but american works too).

then a layer of whatever lunchmeat they like. I use ham and pepperoni.

roll up from the short end, tucking in the sides as you go.

place on a cookie sheet, seam-side down and brush the top with olive oil.

Cook in a 400 degree oven for about 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Let cool for about 10 minutes and then slice into 1/2 inch pieces.

Sometimes I serve w/ a dish of sauce, sometimes not.

YUM!

ETA: You can also make them and freeze for later use. Still taste good.

I use pizza dough to make pepperoni bread and also for lac of a more creative title chicken bread.

For the chicken one I take leftover roasted chicken and spinach and put it inside the dough with swiss or mozzarella cheese. I serve it with ranch or marinara to dip it in.

Sausage bread. Take the sausauge meat out of the casing or buy it uncased and sautee it with some onion. Spread out the dough, put the sausage in it and roll it up. Brush it with olive oil and bake it in the oven. We use this as a side dish. It tastes so good!

That sounds like the Chicken Bake from Costco and I am sure it's much cheaper to make at home. :)

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I think we will try the dessert pizza!
I know i mentioned it in the beginning but grilling pizza on the grill is excellent. I take the dough and roll it out as thin as I can and place it directly on the hot oiled grill. After a few minutes I flip it over, put the sauce and toppings on and when the cheese melts it's done. The kids love it because it is so crispy :)

If you're tired of 'regular' pizza...how about changing it up with white pizza? A friend gave me a great suggestion a couple weeks ago, I tried it and it's awesome. Use Rondele garlic and herb spread for the 'sauce'. A nice layer will do you, doesn't have to be too thick. Then top with whatever you'd like. I did a large rectangular pizza and tried (in different sections) fresh sliced tomato, chopped artichoke hearts, broccoli. Then topped with mozzarella. It was SOOOO good! My friend also said to try the Rondele (or similar, doesn't have to be that brand) and some lemon juice mixed into ricotta then spread on the pizza followed by a generous portion on carmelized onions. That's it , no other cheese. Haven't tried it yet but it sounds similar to the Silano pizza we used to have a Bertucci's and was one of my favorites!
