Just wondering when you all throw out your expired OTC medications. For example, I have some allergy meds expired 3/07, Triaminic thin strips expired 11/06, childrens benedryl fast melts expired 1/06, some childrens cold plus cough that expired 7/05 and some wound wipes that expired a long, long time ago. Do I get rid of all of this stuff???? With only one kid still taking the childrens version of stuff, it seems like a waste to go get entire boxes of things, just to use one pill and have the rest expire. I want to be prepared though (especially with our DW trip coming up). There's nothing like making a 2 a.m. medicine run.

I usually don't throw anything away until about a year after the expiration date. I just can't imagine meds magically turning into pumpkins on the date on the box. :scared1:

I usually throw mine away about a year later, I just can't see throwing all that money away. From what I have been told most meds just are not as strong as they once were

We discard our OTC meds just a few months past the expiration date and no more. My wife is a physician and her father is a pharmacist, so I tend to go with their wisdom when it comes to medications.
