After the passing of Steve Jobs yesterday, it's fitting that I got my first ipad earlier this week.

I need to get some kind of cover for it, and need advice on which one to purchase. I do have a screen shield to put on, just haven't done it yet.

Things to keep in mind: I will probably be carrying it in my purse often, so don't want it scratched up by my keys and wallet, but also don't want to add a lot of bulk(this is probably one of the most important things to me). I have 3 small(5 and under) children who will use it occasionally to watch movies or play games, so I need to protect it from them. :)

Thanks!

I love my Apple magnetic cover! It is light, easy to use and you can easily remove it should you want to for a given situation.

I love my case, but it's a little bit bulky, so I don't know if it will work for you.

It's by incase and is really wonderfully protective, and "converts" into a stand.

Just got a really cute one in the park last weekend..it is faux leather with Mickey parts embossed on it! Love it:cool1:

I've seen these and they look good, but will I scratch up the back of the ipad easily since only the front is covered?

I really like how this becomes a stand, I'll check it out and see if it's too bulky. I already have to carry a diaper bag and infant carrier around, so less is more for me. :)

I'll be there in December, I'll check on that one too!

I have the one that they started selling here in WDW with the embossed Mickey's. I bought mine in DL. I love it. It works great, the stand feature is great and it didn't add a lot of bulk to it.

My sister got one of those covers when she first got her ipad. I never liked it because it could come off easily, the ways to use it as a stand just didn't work well for me, and I didn't want the back scratched. I got a case similar to the other ones shown and it has worked really well for me. My sister got a second one that is made from some type of sturdy fabric that is much thinner and lighter, but still has the built-in stand.

I have not scratched up the back of mine. Not sure how hard you think you might be on it.

I do not have a problem with mine coming off unless I specifically take it off. It is also very light and doesn't hide the beauty of the iPad itself, which is important to me (I realize it might not be important to everyone).

Yeah, I got the Apple one, too. I figured that if Apple was selling it and it was designed to go with their product...well, they wouldn't sell something that sucked, right? Kinda well known for not selling sucky stuff. That was my whole logic process.

Works very, very well. I love that the thing turns on and off by itself when you lift or drop the cover. :) I don't use the stand much, but it works fine. Someone mentioned that it falls off all the time. I don't know if I'm lucky or she's unlucky, but that (happily) hasn't been the case for me.

The back hasn't gotten all scratched. I throw it in my purse with all that crap, I leave it on a break table at work for others to use and the cat occasionally tries to eat it. Looks fine.

Although I don't want the front scratched, I honestly wouldn't care (even a little) if it did get scratches on the back, so there is that.
